Hey everyone!

Sorry for the long lag in posts–it’s currently the middle of the fall sports season, and I’ve been up to my eyeballs in football and volleyball. ¬†Here’s a quick update. ¬†Currently my favorite football photo of the year so far.

St. Louis' Marcus Mariota leaps but comes up short of the goal line during first-half action of an ILH Football game between the Punahou Buffanblu and the St. Louis Crusaders Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 at Aloha Stadium. (Jamm Aquino/Honolulu Star-Bulletin). Canon EOS 1D Mark IIN, EF 70-200 f2.8L IS at 178mm, Exposure mode: Manual, 1/500 sec @ f2.8, 4200K Whitebalance.

Nice shot. Right time, right place. Left toe is still off the ground, did he make the TD?
Curious how many pics you took in the burst and was this a night shot?

  2. Tracy White:

Actually, that’s the right foot of the opposing team’s #10 (I think, if I’m reading that right); he’s completely airborne.

    Great shot all around!

  3. kent:

@Gary – his left toe isnt stiff on the ground. it belongs to the defender on camera right.

@jamm – nice peak action. aloha!

    Thanks for the comments y’all!

To answer your question, Gary, I shot a burst of 9 frames, this frame is the 3rd one, and he DIDN’T make the TD! This was shot at night at Aloha Stadium. One thing to note, for the tech people, is that Aloha Stadium is about a stop and a third (1 1/3) darker at high school football than for UH football. Reason being is that one whole row of lights around the entire stadium aren’t being used.
