Cathy Lee, president and designer of RSVPstyle introduced her latest venture, Cathy’s Marketplace, with a “Style & Substance” benefit for the American Cancer Society.
The event took place May 5 at Cathy’s new furniture emporium on the ground floor of the Varsity Building on University Avenue. It formally opened its doors May 9.
Guests enjoyed aerial acrobatics by Samadhi, music by Tahiti Rey and food from d.k Steakhouse, Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar, Maile’s Thai Bistro, Memoirs, Town and JJ Bistro & French Pastry, in between browsing the shop’s eclectic combination of new and consigned furnishings, home decor and objets d’art.
Cathy’s Marketplace brings RSVPstyle concepts to life in tableaus that mix old and new, giving those who’ve always been afraid of tackling their interior design issues the courage to experiment and create new spaces by blending their own favorite pieces of furniture and objects in new ways.
They welcome gently used, luxury home items on consignment, and more than just a place to shop, aim to make a visit an educational experience, inviting shoppers to stop in at their Style Center to pick up decor tips.
Cathy’s Marketplace is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Call 738-8488. A few pieces can be purchased online at www.CathysMarketplace.com.
I made a beeline straight for Chef DK Kodama’s station because I was told by foodies when I arrived that he was serving his Dungeness Crab Ramen with Asian Truffle Broth, below, one of my favorite dishes at Sansei! It was just as good on the road as in the restaurant, and a good antidote for the cold, rainy evening.
