Shanghai Tang at C.S. Wo

Julia Sojot wasn’t intimidated by the protective fu dog at the C.S. Wo & Sons store entry.

C.S. Wo & Sons celebrated Chinese New Year with friends and family during an afternoon event at its main showroom on Beretania Street.

In addition to enjoying fortune telling, taking home calligraphic good wishes, viewing new jade and precious stone collections from Jade by Nikolai and food from Spices restaurant and Superb Sushi, the event was also provided an opportunity to see the first of Shanghai Tang’s Spring/Summer 2010 ready-to-wear collection, “Love Restraint,” and also including one contemporary qipao (below right) from the Imperial Tailors, the company’s equivalent to couture.

Feb. 28 is the last day to see the Shanghai Tang display at C.S. Wo, after which, of course, you’ll find the ready-to-wear on the racks at the Shanghai Tang boutique at Ala Moana Center.

Roast suckling pig was served Chinese style on steamed buns with plum sauce and scallions.
