Throw it away, throw it away now
By Nadine Kam
In last Thursday’s print edition of the paper, I wrote about cleaning out your closet and the idea of shopping your closet to make a list of needs before you go shopping and come home with a bag of wants.
Found a blog that addresses this recessionista tactic http://shopinyourcloset.blogspot.com/ though the resulting finds weren’t what I had in mind. They’re the kind of things that should have been tossed long ago.
You’re welcome to contribute to the blog and so many of the items shown are so thugly that at the least, they’ll make you feel better about what you have in your closet.
If you can top the toe socks posted recently on the shopinyourcloset blog, do tell!

The photos in that shop in your closet blog leave me speechless.
The last time I shopped my closet, I actually found a black skirt and lightweight cardigan I wore all summer. The rest - Goodwill!

Dude if every recessionista looks for inspiration in that blog I predict that retail clothing sales will skyrocket next month!

I would much rather see different ways to wear one piece already in your closet. Not dirty toe socks! Haha.

I’m with Katlin!
But I must confess that I’ve got an old ballet costume in my closet, tulle skirt and all!

sadly, my aunt in Okinawa just sent me 3 pairs of these TOE SOCKS! I wear them because they’re actually comfortable (they’re not rainbow striped socks, just plain black/white ankle length ones) and I like to freak out friends. I just tossed a bunch of stuff out of my closet but I think I’ll hold on to my freaky toe socks for a while.

Allie: I love tulle!
Velvetacide: Those are pretty freaky and funny at the same time. I gotta admit that if I dug deep past the suitcase blocking bottom dresser drawers, I’d probably unearth 1980s “Flashdance” era leg warmers in colorful stripes! All the non-dancers in hot, hot Hawaii wore them. Go figure.
