Gov. Neil Abercrombie chose veteran lawmaker Tom Okamura to fill a vacant state House seat in Aiea over two other Democrats recommended as potential appointees by the Democratic Party of Hawaii.
Sara Kaopuiki and Brandon Elefante were the other Democrats on the list.

Let’s see if one can retire from their appointed job. It seems many cannot stand the “heat” and resign because of “family matters”.

Thanx for the info, Derrick. Any statements regarding the current state of Okamura’s health that would allay conserns that he will have to depart again when, perhaps, these folks could have served longer?

Well, here it is, February 2, and Tom Okamura has resigned again, barely three weeks after this post.
There was no indication from DD or the S-A at the time of the appointment or following this post that anyone asked whether Okamura’s health concerns had been resolved. I’m not interested in prying into his health but didn’t you folks think it was relevant to ask the Governor, given Okamura’s earlier resignation, to see whether the administration is doing any better at vetting its appointments?
Don’t say I didn’t tell you so because I told you so.
