QMark Research, in a poll taken for former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann’s congressional campaign, found Gov. Neil Abercrombie’s favorability score in the negative.

The poll found that 39 percent of registered voters interviewed in the 2nd Congressional District had a favorable perception of the governor, while 40 percent had an unfavorable opinion and 20 percent had no opinion.

The poll was taken by telephone among 400 registered voters in the 2nd District, which covers rural Oahu and the neighbor islands, from July 28 to Aug. 1. The margin or error was 4.9 percentage points.

A Hawaii Poll taken statewide in May found Abercrombie’s favorability score at 55 percent. Fifty percent gave the governor a positive job approval rating.

QMark pollsters measured the favorability scores of several politicians to help Hannemann determine his potential strength.

Mufi’s going to depend on polls . . . again?

Hope he likes the tourism, visitor, whatever, job he got right now. “Remember The Increased Property Taxes Forced on Those Poor Souls in Kalihi!!!!” (with apologies to “Remember the Alamo!”)

  2. Get Real:

Just remember that the property reclassifications were required by ordinance and driven by neighbors’ complaints. And just remember that a Councilwoman who owned property that was directly affected chose to remain silent until the tax bills came, then cynically used the outcry as a political weapon while pushing through legislation that gave her same property a $36,000 tax break.

Still think you know what you’re talking about, Cluck Head?

  3. Chicken Grease:

Uh, if you’re talking to moi, uh, yes, a Grease knows what he’s talkin’ ’bout . . . I mean, unless what resulted’s something Mufi did not ’spect to happen. What’s with all the bloviating (lot of bloviating on Political Radar; if all ya’ll bloviations are so righteous, then why aren’t YOUR answers solving anything, hmmmmm????), yet those residents have their prop’ tax back to normal, Mufi in NO elected office, currently. The end.

  4. Chicken Grease:

[Oh, wait, not yet "the end"; here's the vignette following the credits roll a la superhero movie:]

Um. Can we be certain that the issue of the increased property tax on those Kalihians won’t be brought up soon enough in the inevitable televised debate (heck; a Grease sure as heck wants to hear “proof is in the poi” again, yessirree) regarding the office Mufi’s vying for? Hmmm??? Can his campaign count on the topic not coming up? Or at least having the Hanneman camp using, “ehy, councilwoman nevah say NOT’IN’ YOU KNOW?! Yah? See? You knew d’at, right? Councilwoman nevah when say not’in at d’a time. Not ou’ fault chyou know” as a ’splanation? Wow. How effective. Should get him elected, mmph.

    Bloviate on that.

The truth never gets in the way of an irrational hater with the brain of a chicken.
