From the For What It’s Worth file …

Our colleague Dave Shapiro has a blog item noting a political ad that that ran in Sunday’s Star-Advertiser.

The blog post takes aim at the Hawaii Republican Party for an ad that:

calls Abercrombie “a loud-mouthed hippie” and includes a 40-year-old photo.

The ad purports to be taken from a letter to the editor by Hilo resident Bob Rosehill published Oct. 6 in the Hawaii Tribune-Herald.

Here is the letter as it appears online on the Hawaii Tribune-Herald site.

Here is the Hawaii GOP’s ad (linked from Shapiro’s blog) with its version of the letter.

One of these things, is not like the other.

Ah snap! The Republicans thought their negative ad would be TOO negative with the word “haole.” Hilarious.

  2. Ken Conklin:

I welcome Abercrombie as a fellow member of the Brotherhood of the Beard.

But there’s no way I would ever vote for him; not even for dog-catcher.

Now why would the Republican Party not print the letter verbatim? Or not even use the literary device. . . to indicate that a word was taken out?

    Hmm . . .

Written by a Benedict Arnold DaDonk, at least to his Party. He can do whatever he wants to do. That is his first Given Right. I don’t think an Elephant be so wise to write such a detailed article so many years ago. At least someone did not forget.

  6. Pot and Kettle:

Pretty trashy, but Dave Shapiro calling someone out for taking a cheap shot is like Billy Barty calling someone small.
