Facebook fun

Soon after U.S. Rep. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, announced today to her supporters that she would run in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate next year, minority Republicans took to social media to have some fun.

The state GOP Twitter post suggested Hirono is not exactly exciting.

If you are having a hard time falling asleep, just watch this video of Mazie Hirono announcing that she is running… http://fb.me/Y16aYp29

Dylan Nonaka, the state GOP’s executive director, was even more creative on Facebook.

To all my right wing political friends, if you see the Mazie 4 Hawaii Facebook ad on the right side of you wall, click on it as many times as you can. Her campaign is getting charged for every click so we can start helping her burn her cash now.

I am grateful to Dylan Nonaka for displaying, for the very first reply, the ethical bakruptcy at the core of the Republican campaign. Last election cycle, he relied heavily on Christian intolerance. He now broadens his strategy to include an army of clockers.

I guess it is too much to hope the Republicans would spend there money fashioning a competing set of proposals rather than simply try to use up Democratic money through petty tactics of this sort?

  2. Kolea:

Oops, spelling error. Meant “an army of ‘clickers,” not “clockers.”

(And, of course, “their money,” not “there money.”)

  3. Manoa_Fisherman:

I disagree with Kolea, the attitude of Dylan Nonaka is one of a morally bankrupt political party that can only think of petty attacks on the opposition rather than stating the benefits of any of the GOP candidates, if they have any.

The Hawaii Republican Party is now relegated to taking swings at the “low hanging fruit” so to speak. This cave man mentality has driven away anyone who is willing to assist in the support of a “real” opposition party. It seems that at the Hawaii State Legislature, the conservative vacuum seems to have been filled by Calvin Say’s faction in the House of Representatives to hold the line against an increase in the General Excise Tax.

Nonaka is just a clown that seems to have been put up to make the Democrats look good. If the GOP had any good sense, they would get rid of him and get someone with some intelligence. But that would be asking too much from the folks who shoot themselves in the mouth on even the good times.

    How old is Dylan?!? 12?!?

    Grow Up, R-’Leadership’.

  5. johnson:

    I agree, Kolea.

  6. whale:

Sad thing Dylan Nonaka is only taking the point because Jonah Kaauwai is even worse than him.

  7. Kolea:

    Manoa Fisherman,

Not only did I type that poorly, I also did not express myself well. I think you and I agree.

Mazie’s announcement provided an opportunity for the GOP to make an intelligent response. But right out of the blocks, Dylan displays his petty, frankly “punk” attitude towards politics.

What’s next Dylan, urging your members to ask for Hirono bumperstickers so she can waste her money that way? How’s about tearing down Democratic yard signs? Or is that a later step in your “campaign strategy”?

Hey Dylan, how’s about setting an example for your troops? I mean, an ADMIRABLE example? How do you reconcile your “low road” punkish attitudes with your deliberate mobilization through the rightwing political churches? Maybe it’s a good fit. Since your cause is holy, you are justified in fighting dirty?

  8. Neil A.:

You guys just wish you thought of it first.
BTW the media always feeds you Liberal bias interests and not their stance and proposals anyway.
And it stills doesn’t take away the fact that everyone knows Mazie is Lazy.

  9. kay:

Dylan Nonaka needs to go home. He’s hurting the reputation of hawaii republicans. So is his brokeback mountain buddy, Jonah.

  10. Aaron:

We need a serious 2nd party in Hawaii. The national “keep yer hand off my wallet, you socialist ferener” Republican Party attitude doesn’t seem to sell well.

  11. Goober:

Happens when someone comments drunk! Sober or not it is still a 2 cent comment.

  12. Johnson:

“Kay,” YOUR comment – So is his brokeback mountain buddy, Jonah – is terribly inappropriate. Are you trying to be clever like Dylan?

Or did you just want to be hurtful?
