Hawaii front row, but not center at Denver convention
Here’s the first peak at the Hawaii spot on the convention floor at Denver’s Pepsi Center. The facility holds 20,000 and is home to four professional sports teams including the Denver Nuggets. The center was closed for 10 weeks and cost an estimated $15 million to refurbish for the Democratic National Convention, with some of the money from convention sponsors and companies hoping to product placement signs around the arena.. The last minute switch by Sen. Barack Obama to hold his nomination speech Thursday at the 70,000- seat Invesco Field, reportedly upset both investors and the networks – But what is the price of show business?
Here’s a picture taken Sunday afternoon showing Hawaii’s spot. It is good because it is just off floor level and up, but it is behind a camera stand. Delegates should not have any trouble seeing the speakers because of the huge podium, which like all national convention sets looks like it was designed for the Wizard of Oz. Also here’s a link to a charting seat so you can check out who got the best seats: http://www.demconvention.com/assets/downloads/DNCC-State-Seating.jpg.
