Louise Kim McCoy, the press secretary for Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle, is in line for the post as Gov. Neil Abercrombie’s communications director.
Donalyn Dela Cruz, Abercrombie’s spokeswoman, said the administration was not prepared to make an official announcement on Friday because a decision to hire McCoy had not been finalized.
Other sources say that McCoy has yet to meet personally with Abercrombie about the job, but is expected to next week.
McCoy, a former television news reporter, was a spokeswoman for the state Department of Public Safety under former Gov. Linda Lingle.
Her husband, Jim McCoy, was a public-relations adviser to Abercrombie’s campaign for governor in 2010.

Wow, must be slim pickings in the communications world. Or maybe not that many people willingly buy a ticket to ride a runaway train.

It is not for Dela Cruz to say. She resigned.
She will not be notified on who will replace her.
She quit and should no longer be accessible to
this information. It should be of no concern to
Dela Cruz and that she should be looking for another job.

Geezus, the UH has so many PR and communications people, every State Dept. has a press secretary with Asst. Secretaries, all getting paid in the high 5 figures….Can’t these Dept. heads with college degrees or our elected leaders speak to the people from their heart or are they as ignorant as they are thought to be that they would mumble-jumble their way through a press conference….I would think the general public is just disgusted and frustrated seeing our tax dollars being wasted on these non-essential personnel.

So the appointment of the new Communications Director is devolving into a typical Abercrombie administration communications debacle. LOL!
