Rights

The Human Rights Campaign, a national advocacy group that supports gay rights, has endorsed U.S. Rep. Mazie Hirono for U.S. Senate.

The HRC said Hirono had a perfect record on the group’s congressional scorecard. But HRC also cited former Gov. Linda Lingle’s decision to veto a civil-unions bill in 2010.

Mazie’s opponent, former Governor Linda Lingle, vetoed a commonsense civil unions bill that would have given gay and lesbian couples equal treatment under the law.  That was just two short years ago in 2010.  At that time, the vast majority of American’s supported civil unions and support for marriage equality was quickly approaching the milestone 50 percent mark.  Despite those numbers, Lingle compared marriage equality to incest, saying, “But people on the other side would point out, well, we don’t allow other people to marry even — it’s not a civil right for them. First cousins couldn’t marry, or a brother and a sister and that sort of thing.”

Now, over half of Americans support marriage equality and support for civil unions is off the charts.  Mazie is with the majority of Americans in supporting marriage equality.  Linda Lingle’s views on equality are outdated and out of touch.  Mazie Hirono’s fair-minded beliefs are needed in the halls of the Senate.

Please help Mazie Hirono defeat the out-of-touch and anti-equality Lingle.

Well, a Grease (should a Grease say “I” instead? Make it “need nice, easy word, easy sentence structured or else I flee” people? Actually a Grease should be honored — the works of Shakespeare, Milton, Faulkner, and other great classic authors aren’t easy reads either) Isn’t surprised. Various support of Democratic candidates by alternative lifestyle agencies are simply presented as self-fulfilling prophecies; they only end up drawing the ire of their own members and automatically discredit themselves if they ever end up endorsing a Republican runner. So, no surprise here (read: Lingle camp yawns and actually thanks the good Lord that they didn’t get this endorsement).

And since we’re all on soap boxes here, let’s agree on how Republicans support the true definition of marriage (let’s tear down this soft curtain known as “civil unions” already) anyway — read: marriage between a man and a woman (hey, HI Supreme Court upheld this, too, recently, didn’t they?) Marriage is made by heterosexuals for heterosexuals (is there a counter argument up in hea, up in hea?); why demand that you have it, alternative lifestylers? Face it, Republicans more honestly protect and perpetuate the Christian faith, and Jesus’ first miracle was at a marriage between a man and a woman. It’s 4th quarter (can we even say, middle of the 2nd quarter, even?) at the UH Warriors vs. U of Georgia Bulldogs Sugar Bowl already, so feggit about it.

Another thing we should admit — there is a plethora of creativity in the alternative lifestyle side of society. Instead of trying to spending so much time hand-wringing, lamenting, and hijacking something that’s always been hetero’, why don’t they hold a summit, come up with a “forever bonding” togetherness act that they can implement into law. Make it BETTER than traditional marriage. Make the straight folk Jealous of THAT lifelong commitment (and, we should remind the alternative lifestylers that the rub IS “lifelong commitment”).

“This is a decision that should not be made by one person sitting in her office or by members of the Majority Party behind closed doors in a legislative caucus, but by all the people of Hawaii behind the curtain of the voting booth.” ~ linda lingle in her governors veto speech.

lingle washed her hands clean of anything to do with Civil Unions and passed it on to our present Governor. Also said “wording” had a lot to do with her vetoing this bill.
Not having a list of promises, she can say whatever she did is an accomplishment.
Waking up for her is an accomplishment. I wonder what her bucket list would look like.

I just tolerate or have to.
