U.S. Rep. Mazie Hirono and former congressman Ed Case will appear in a final debate before their Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in August.

The July 26 debate will be hosted by Hawaii News Now and the Star-Advertiser and will air statewide from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on KHNL, KGMB and KFVE.

Hirono on Monday agreed to appear at a debate on commercial television. She had previously agreed to five joint appearances with Case before the primary, but none on commercial television. Four debates have already been held and a fifth had been cancelled and not rescheduled.

“The chance to showcase these two qualified candidates for one of the most critical positions in government is something we’re proud to be a part of,” Rick Blangiardi, general manager of Hawaii News Now, said in a statement.

Hawaii News Now and the Star-Advertiser have a news partnership.

Looks like Uncle Dan finally got Lazy Mazie out of her bed and told her to do her homework. Now Lazy is going to get schooled by Ed Case in the debate!

Don’t flatter yourself by calling Senator Inouye your Uncle.
He wouldn’t have a two cent relative.

Recce, obviously you did not catch the PBS debate between Hirono and Case. Hirono totally demolished Case in the debate. He was reduced to a stammering heap of embarrassed slag.

  4. huh?:

What debate were you watching? Mazie didn’t answer a single question other than generic “I care about people” scripted plattitudes. It had about the depth and intelligence of an episode of Saved by the Bell. Ed gave actual answers directly related to the questions along with specifics.

huh? Seems like you are savvy on debates. case can speak well but let’s see action.
case seems like a bitter person trying to be local but he doesn’t look like one.
