It was previously noted here how even some Republicans were a bit worried about a perception problem for the party when the Republican National Committee held its national convention in Hawaii last month.

We expected the national media to converge on Hawaii. The event didn’t escape the watchful eye of Jon Stewart and The Daily Show, either. Check out their send-up of the meeting on Tuesday night’s show:

One Response to “The Politics of Paradise (Part II)”

  1. Kolea:

The local GOP has gotten infected with the national GOP bug. Lingle got all excited by the attention she got from campaigning for Sarah Palin and doing fundraising speeches for Jewish Republican audiences. She is now excited by a dream of cashing in on her political career by becoming a fixture in the GOP TV “talking head” circuit.

This infection is clouding their judgment. Hawaii voters, in general, do not like the spirit which has infected the national GOP and transformed it into an angry mob which shouts down its opponents and obstructs congress. The “moderate Republican” brand may not work in most of North America, but in certain pockets of the Northeast and in Hawaii, it is the BEST approach for winning votes.

This month, they will feature Karl Rove as their keynote speaker at the annual Lincoln Day fundraiser. I hope the event gets LOTS of publicity!
