Ron Lee to Kalani

One year ago Ron Lee was the offensive coordinator at the University of Hawaii.

Today, Kalani High School head coach Greg Taguchi told me  Lee is helping run the offense for the downtrodden Falcons.

Some will see it as a big step down. I see it as Lee doing a great thing for the community, lending his expertise to a public school team that really needs it.

Comment from Ron Lee: “You can’t be halfway. I don’t know how many games we’ll win. The first thing is for the team to be competitive and have fun and go from there.”

  2. H20:

    Thank you Ron!

  3. Warrior Dave:

I agree with you Dave. It’s a great example of Ron giving something back to the community.

    Good luck Coach Ron!

  4. sports for fun:

I saw the receivers and qb’s working out on their own this past weekend at Kalani. Seems like some of the kids have bought in to Coach Ron’s system. Good luck to the Falcons this year!!

  5. Its over:

Lee has to feel a sense of peace returning to a the kind of place where there is still time to teach basic values and skills.

Plus, I’ll bet Greg Taguchi cries in public a lot less than Lee’s previous boss.

  6. Dave Reardon:

By the way, as you would expect, Lee is doing this as a volunteer. He still has his night job at the showroom.

So, Ron Lee takes his talent and gives back to the keiki o ka aina.

His former boss takes $1.1 million, plus A LOT of free meals from them.

leave it to the message board trolls to turn a positive thing into a chance to bash coach mack. good job, guys.
