That’s one of Mike Trapasso’s favorite phrases. The UH baseball team was that today, coming up with a 7-4 win to avoid being swept by UC Irvine in the season-opening four-game series.
Freshman Matt Sisto was simply a stud, limiting a strong Anteaters lineup to two runs in seven innings. Not a bad college debut.
The UH bats heated up as the series wore on. The Rainbows managed just two hits in Friday’s opener.
“We started to get some confidence once we got that first run across (Friday, in the eighth inning),” said junior third baseman Vinnie Catricala, who went 6-for-12 for the series.
Kolten Wong isn’t off to the greatest start at the plate, but the highly-touted freshman made a great catch in center field early in today’s game to set the tone.
“If (Irvine’s) the No. 9 team in the country, I like our club right now,” Trapasso said.
