Brennan was set to start new career

It’s never a good time to get arrested, but some are worse than others.

A source told me Thursday that former Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan was set to be hired as a sports reporter at a local TV station on Wednesday, just a few hours before he was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and promotion of a dangerous drug.

The position was created specifically for Brennan, who was recently cut by the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders. But that opportunity for the 28-year-old UH communications graduate to start a new chapter in his life is gone now due to the arrest, the source said.

It’s too bad for him and the road he has taken. He was a person that was respected during his career at UH. It would have been a great career for him as a sports reporter and he would become a well liked person person in the sports community of Hawai’i. I also had great asperations for him when he got drafted by the Washington Redskins. I am an avid fan of the UH Warriors eventhough I live on the Mainland in Minnesota since 1983… GO BOW’S!!!!!! I also have many UH outerwear and wear it proudly all year round.

Well, timing is everything. Next stop will be some celebrity rehab reality TV show.

  3. Travis Sims:

I honestly hate to see things like this. Hopefully Colt figures it out.

Moniz.Number.One……not necessary….the guy is messed up, he needs help, hopefully he takes this incident to heart and seeks it. Moniz is’nt exactly pearl white in his career, don’t drag the trash out.

  5. Jjay:

Let’s all pray Colt will gather his life together and get rid of his demons.

  6. lihuelu:

I doubt it, Moniz. He’s not exactly a celebrity (except here). He just needs to pull his head out of his a** before he kills somebody on the road. He’s already damaged enough people. There’s more to life than football. This is what happens when we coddle and spoil these brats in college – they think thye’re entitled, and when everything doesn’t go their way, they act out in destructive ways. Grow up, Colt! Get a job! Right now, you’re just another college football has-been. Nobody owes you anything. You’re pathetic.

Eh Lihuelu,Colt isn’t asking anything your opening your mouth where your a” is,everything has been on his own and never ask anything, but has given me and other people of Hawaii some Ono memories!

    Colt follow your Heart

  9. Warrior Dave:

I just knew the “Haters” would surface. I feel sorry for Colt and will always support him thought all his future endeavors. As for the Haters, sorry you lost money on the Sugar Bowl. Just wish you guys wouldn’t hide behind multiple names to make it seem there are more of you.

I wonder how many more people this miscreant will hurt in his life? Nothing like second, third, fourth, etc. chances for Hawaii’s pseudo-ohana. (sarcasm)

He needs to change his name to Coke Brennan. Bust in pro football, BUST IN LIFE. Mahalo.

  11. islandlily:

Sheesh, go away Colt. You are only relevant in the islands and you keep on giving us a black eye. Nobody in the mainland even knows you exist anymore. Can’t believe you failed so miserably in the NFL, CFL and UFL. GO AWAY you embarrassment.

  12. kev-1:

Wow! Some real angels on this board. No excuses for Colt, but man, I didn’t realize there were so many perfect people with so many ignorant comments to make. I guess their just jealous that if they ever got busted for a DUI, nobody would care.

With that said . . . Colt’s mistakes are his and his alone. Hawaii is a place where he is treated probably a little too well, and maybe he adopted a bit of invincibility. Not sure, and none of us know what is going on. Hope he figures it out and turns it around.

  13. kev-1:

The nerve of some of you “internet cowards” calling someone a bust in life, irrelevant, etc. People like you make a lot of people sick.

Irresponsibility and stupidity aside, what do his mistakes have to do with any of you.

  14. mo808:

Colt ,praying for you! You’ll always be a favorite island son. Live and be Pono!

  15. Moniz.Number.One:

I love the phrase pseudo-ohana because it cuts to the core of the problem. It’s a pseudo-ohana because Colt Brennan doesn’t care if the people of Hawaii love him; if he did, he would act like it. People don’t want to let go of the 2007 season, the Colt cultists act as though they’ve never supported a winning team before 2007 and that they never will again, thus elevating Colt to God-like status. If you want to follow someone blindly and without reservation, why not just worship Tiger Woods? At least he actually did something in pro sports, not like this Colt who is looking more like a Gavin Smith wanna-be than anything else. I’m not praying for Colt, I just want him to step aside and let sports fans move on to praise someone more worthy. Davone Bess, Alex Green, Greg Salas, even Kealoha Pilares have all achieved more in the NFL than Colt ever will. You want heroes, start with those four and forget about Colt Brennan.

Along with every little thing which seems to be developing inside this specific area, many of your opinions are generally relatively exciting. In any event I did appreciate reading through it.
