Makaula switches commitment to Washington

Kimo Makaula, the Punahou defensive end/quarterback, was an oral commitment to UH before changing his mind. This is from an impeccable source, but it’s all I’ve got on it for now.

Also, WR Kalua Noa, who was slated to join UH as a grayshirt, doesn’t have a scholarship now and will go to Portland State instead.

Too bad for us regarding Makaula. He was so versatile for Punahou. I had high hopes for him on our D-line.

I guess with all these recent commits, something had to give regarding early commits like Kalua Noa. I hope Kalua doesn’t have any hard feelings towards UH.

Best of luck to both of these players.

I think UH screwed up BIG TIME with Noa. He would have played next year. I saw him as a faster and surer handeler Rivers. Poor decision UH!!!

Good luck to him at what is now a PAC-10 bottom feeder, and will probably be for the whole time he is there. We only want those Hawaiians who want to be here and play with pride for the homeland. The others with wishy-washy hearts do not belong. Better we find out soon than later.

Adios Makaula. have fun being in last place in the cold rain. NEXT!

    Wowlaulau,

Bottom feeder the Huskies are for now, but the whole time? 4-5 years? Why HATE? Why not be happy for the young man earning a scholarship to a mainland university? Why not be supportive and excited for an opportunity that opens his eyes to a larger world? Hawai’i is a great, grand and wonderful home to many, however, do we achieve global citizenship by keeping all our keiki at home. With statements like, Hawaiians who want to be here and play with pride/wish-washy hearts, you question whether or not someone loves Hawai’i? Better we find out sooner than later that support is only given to those who stay home and play? Should all athletes then stay home for the pride of UH? What about pride in taking a risk to step outside of what is comfortable and known, and grow and become something greater than what you first started with. Go easy on the judgmental action, easy…

I concur with every word that Wowlaulau wrote. I tell the athletes that I know, “Go and see what else the world has to offer. You can always come home because Hawaii will always be here.” Don’t begrduge an athlete just because they choose to go elsewhere. The local kids have always been snubbed by the UH coaching staff and recruiters. If they gave the local kids half of the energy that they put toward the non-local kids UH might have better results.

    Go get ‘um Kimo!

Rather than scrutinizing an organization that really improves society, through realizing, for what reason don’t you condemn the US. for things like victimizing the reserve set up for American Indians in the late 90′s for their instruction, welfare? It has never been permitted to be gotten to and now is in the billions…not gotten to for the Indians anyway…but the govt. utilizes it for different things…there are numerous things like this that are unmistakably more significant than this issue.

Where naturalists fail to understand the situation about environmental change is they get excessively enthusiastic and unreasonable about it.
