Tengan turns down Saint Louis job

According to several sources, Delbert Tengan was recently offered the head football coaching job at Saint Louis, but declined to accept it today.
Tengan, who was previously the football (twice) and basketball head coach, will join the ‘Iolani staff. He was unavailable for comment today.
He will finish out the school year at Saint Louis, where he has been a longtime teacher.
“Delbert’s heart has always been at Saint Louis, but they waited to long to appreciate what they had,” a source said.
At least one interview for the position was held today.

Do you have any scoops on who are the UH Basketball recruits in town for a visit this weekend?
Bummer about Tengan, I do think we wasn’t treated good. Is he going to be teaching at Iolani as well or just coaching with the Football team?

It seems pretty obvious that if Delbert Tengan could not become the AD at St. Louis, he would not return to coach the football team. Oh, well, one opportunity lost and another one for someone else.

I’ll ask Brian about the recruits. Yeah, I’m pretty sure Delbert would’ve stayed if they didn’t jerk him around.

Heard on the WSN board that one bball recruit is a 6′1″ PG/SG while the other is like a 6′7″ JC Wing player, can Brian or you confirm.

Kendall, Brian said the 6-7 guy is probably Josten Thomas, who already signed. He’ll try to have some more info on the guard later.

Too bad about Delbert Tengan turning down the St Louis HC job. Probably a smart thing on his part, though. Will be be the DC at Iolani? They seem to have some pretty good assistants on their staff, ie Joel Lane, among others.
Hope things settle down up on Kalaepohaku, because in the end, it’s always the kids who lose out when the adults can’t get it together.

correction on previous comment: wing player visiting this weekend is NOT Josten. … he’s coming in next week. Brian is at Punahou Relays but will effort on these visitors today.

What is going on at St. Louis? Then again what is up with Moniz? If the rumors are true, there is absolutely no way he could earn back the trust of his teammates.
