What a match and what a crowd!

April 24th, 2010

Great match, big win for Hawaii volleyball.

Heartbreaking way for it to end for Pepperdine, as Nejc Zemljak’s serve hit the net and then went over it and onto the Waves’ side of the floor. But, Hawaii had a couple of bad breaks on serves, too. Those tend to even out.

When I asked Zemljak what he thought was the key to the match, he pointed up at the scoreboard.

“I think the biggest thing tonight was the tower. It hit the top a lot of times,” he said.

He was referring to the sound meter on the scoreboard, which the 5,391 in attendance maxed out several times.

“That helped us a lot,” he said. “And I think it affected Pepperdine.”

Any scoops on who the two recruits were?

As so it is written, so let it be done! Max da tower!

whoever the recruit was, I guarantee they sign right now. The crowd was NUTS, the place was ROCKING. who would not want to play in front of that??

I have to give some credit to “Da Rubberband Man” and the crowd for this win. Alan performed at 2 key parts of the 3rd and 5th games. The crowd went wild and the Boys responded with a run to either catch up or pull away.

I haven’t seen a mens VB game since Costas time… The arena was rocking and so were the fans. JD made a good hiring choice in bringing in Charlie Wade. It’s true that Coach Wilton brought in Umluff but Charlie was responsible for making the existing players play harder for him. Now lets see how Charlie recruits. If successful, the fans will definately return as evidenced by Saturday’s crowd.

Good luck at Palo Alto boys!
