Inside the Vera Wang Suite at Halekulani.
It’s not too early to start planning for Valentine’s Day, and one place ideal for a romantic rendezvous—assuming your relationship is legit—is Halekulani’s Lewers Lounge, where Valentine’s weekend is highlighted by “For the Love of Cocktails,” romantic concoctions available for $12 each Feb. 12 to 14. They are:
Ultimat Obsession: “A compelling and captivating concoction” featuring Ultimat Vodka, Grand Marnier and Pomegranate.
Lewer’s Tryst: “A rendezvous of spirits” Pinky Vodka, Tuaca, Grand Marnier, and strawberries.
Forbidden Fruit: “Ambrosia from the Temptress of Eden,” with Pama, 10 Cane Rum, Cointreau and a splash of cranberry juice.
Seductive Sparkler: Libation with the “panache of Prosecco and the passion of Pomegranate.”
Moulin Rouge: Rekindle romance with Champagne, Chambord and Canton Liqueur.
Better yet, if you’ve got the $$$, check into one of the properties beautiful Premier Suites, which are spacious homes away from home, each with its own signature cocktail.
The bathroom of the Orchid Suite is the equivalent of a spa treatment room.
Last month I was able to attend a holiday open house with sweeps through the Vera Wang and Royal suites, plus the new ground-floor Orchid Suite, opening to the lawn and direct view of Diamond Head.
I was taken by Orchid Suite amenities of a spa-like bath, with two soaking tubs and steam shower tower, with special treatments available to room guests only. There is also a full kitchen that allows guests to order up a meal cooked up in the suite by Halekulani executive chef Vikram Garg.
The Royal Suite’s amenity is a grand piano that allows guests to request the presence of pianist Noly Pa’a for a romantic serenade.
Yummy edibles presented by Vikram Garg represent just a tiny fraction of his kitchen capabilities.
Many of the guests parked themselves at the kitchen counter of the Orchid Suite, where Garg served up vegetable-and-cheese canapes, prosciutto-wrapped breadsticks and sashimi, or one of the plush sofas inside the Vera Wang Suite.
Let’s just say the event ran longer than expected as what could be expected was no one wanted to leave.
Lewers Lounge is open from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. daily, with a Sweet & Savory bar menu available to 12:30 a.m. Entertainment is from 8:30 p.m. to midnight Sundays to Thursdays, and 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Attire is ollared shirts and slacks for gentlemen, evening wear for women. Must be 21.
