Thanks for the comments. Good to know someone is taking these "art" photos more seriously than I am.

Oh puhleeze! Spoken and described like a dedicated oenophile. I like two buck Chuck's (Charles Shaw at Trader Joe's), myself. Actually, even by ignoring the wrong Kelvin setting, as the previous writer observed, a 7 year old would at least have had better composition....at the very least.

"Old guard" photogs for your paper (Warren Rolls, Jack Tichen, Jack Matsumoto, etc.)NEVER spun their mistakes into "art" shots. Mayhap, with the proper light balance setting, there would have resulted a more aesthetic photo with the cold metallic hue and texture of the grating underlying the warm, fall color(s) and contrasting texture of the leaves. Monochrome has it's place and works beautifully in the hands of masters re: Adams, Weston, etc.

Oh well, who's to say if we would ever have enjoyed pate feuilletée (sp?) (puff pastry) were it not for an apprentice's mistake?

Respectfully, but always analytical (sob!),

There is something peculiar about the shot...it draws me into it. The balance of the leaves and pebble enhances the darkness of the black negative space, while the blue achieves an 'ancient' feel to it. I feel as if I am in a primitive space. Great accident. Nothing amateur about it.

you need to "learn to see" ...ie....get lots of "coffee table" photography books and flip through them
