New challenges…

passes.jpg

A small sampling of photo passes I’ve accumulated over the seven years I’ve been shooting for the Star-Bulletin.

Richard Who?

Photo What?

Ahhh… many moons have passed, along with quite a few changes…

You may have noticed my dwindling bylines in the paper.

I’ve retired from the photo department here at the Bulletin. As of a few weeks ago, I’ve traded in the cameras and Photoshop for a desk and QuarkXPress.

I joined up with the Today section, where I’ll be doing page layout. Some might say it’s a big change, but I look at it as a great opportunity to put my visual skills to use in a different way. Page design was something I was doing before I came to the Bulletin seven years ago, and I’m looking forward to getting back into it.

Thanks for reading my blog, it was fun telling stories about my work here.

Cheers!

    Congratulations on your new job!

Let’s see… “a few weeks” puts us around the start of July. That leaves a March - July you’ve got to explain, Mister! :)

Any chance you can convince one of the other photographers to drop in and continue the blog? I really liked reading the stories. The technical (setup) side of it was cool as well!

Hey! No Fair! I never would have bought the Canon 10-22mm lens if it wasn’t for your blog. Now hang around for a while and teach me how to use it.

Hey! No Fair! I really enjoyed following your shots. Now you gotta recruit some one to take your place.

its sad to see that you’ve left the photo dept. But good luck to you rich! Hope to still see you around! I’ve got some skill in design. maybe you can teach me a thing or two! LOL.

Maybe Jamm should pick up the photo lounge from you :P That would be wicked awesome! Take it easy.

Thanks for coming back and posting an ending. I’ve enjoyed your pictures, stories, and the technical end of photography. You have a good way with capturing the moment.

I’ve been trying to emulate your successes and it has been hard! (For me). I just can’t seem to be at the right spot for the right shot! Oh well, I guess that’s why there’s digital!

Best of luck on your new adventure. You will be missed!

Wow, thanks everyone for the kind words.

Things are going well in Today. I’m having a lot of fun.

BTW, one of the things I do is the Portfolio (the photo spread in the Monday Today section) now, so if you have something you’d like to share, drop me a message at rwalker (at) starbulletin.com.

    Cheers!
