Here’s one of the secrets: Ryan Mouton starting at slotback ahead of Aaron Bain. Mouton will not start at corner, Jameel Dowling will.

The Warriors are in green pants and black jerseys, for those of you interested in such things.

The Wolf Pack has not beaten Hawaii, but indeed, has won at Aloha Stadium. Nevada won a thriller over Central Florida in the 2005 Hawaii Bowl. They’re favorites tonight, but the Warriors have some surprises in store … the question is can they execute new stuff. Your thoughts?

Slotback Aaron Bain is getting the first team reps as punt returner, and Malcolm Lane is getting them at kickoff. Nate Nasca is also getting work at both, and Daniel Lofton is being looked at on kickoffs. Nasca is also getting some serious reps at receiver.

Jason said it’s “cloak and dagger week” as practice was closed today, but there is some “unclassified” information: DT Rocky Savaiigaea will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a triceps tear Saturday. … WR Royce Pollard is expected to get plenty of playing time after making an outstanding catch last week and practicing a lot with the first team today. … OL Keith AhSoon is running and hopes to make a comeback soon from his sprained knee ligament.

Greg McMackin spoke of possible changes at today’s press conference; and these changes will be done at closed practices this week. … The offensive line is one group that may undergo personnel changes. … Also, McMackin hinted strongly that quarterback Inoke Funaki will not play the entire game, and that a “pure passer” such as Greg Alexander may see significant action against Nevada on Saturday. … Tyler Graunke is the fourth or fifth string QB depending on how you interpret things, and is not expected to play. “Tyler Graunke is physically not able to play right now,” McMackin said. … RB Kealoha Pilares, the Warriors’ most consistent playmaker on offense, is out with a foot injury. He could be out for several games.

I have had conflicting info on this. One version was that if teams are tied, and have the same results against each other (i.e. 3-0 vs. 3-0 as in Hawaii-New Mexico State) then it will be determined by the record against the team below them (currently Idaho). But this is what was posted on the WAC web site, but it was posted in 04. 1. If a tie remains, the tie-breaker shall be based on head-to-head competition. 2. If the two teams split during the regular season, the tie-breaker will be based on games won versus games lost using only the two matches in which they competed against each other. 3. If a tie still exists, then its conference records will be compared using the basis of games won versus games lost in all WAC matches. 4. If a tie remains, then a draw will determine the order of seedings. The odd thing was when I told Shoji that New Mexico State had dropped a set to Boise State, he said, Really? Oh, wait, that doesn’t help us.which lends some credence that the tie-break is record against the third-place team. in that case, NMSU has swept Idaho twice, UH won 3-1 in their only meeting. As of now, both UH and NMSU have dropped just one set. I’ll confirm with the WAC.
