Just spoke with Terry Brennan, Colt’s dad. He and wife Betsy, Colt’s mom, are on their way to Washington to join Colt for Thanksgiving. It will be the first time they attend a Redskins game, too. Terry said Colt will spend a couple of weeks here after the season. As we reported Tuesday, his first scheduled public appearance is “An Evening With Colt Brennan” at The Willows on Feb. 3. It is a benefit for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Hawaii. For more info: Call 952-9200 or 497-2900 or e-mail:  Colt4leukemialymphoma@yahoo.com

Warning, buzz kill alert: Was Bailey worth a scholarship offer?

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

By Dave Reardon

Anyone else agree with me that UH missed the boat in not offering Kama Bailey a scholarship? I never saw him play in high school, but after seeing him return those kicks last night, combined with what I’ve heard about his moves, toughness and general character and desire to represent the home team, this looks like a mistake.

Greg Alexander is on target in the first quarter, 5 for 6 for 157 yards, including an 82-yard TD to Malcolm Lane. Idaho went up 7-0 on a steady drive to start the game, but UH came right back with one of its own with Alexander going in from 1-yard out. Then an Idaho punt, and on the first play, Alexander to Lane for 6.  Solomon Elimimian has 10 tackles in the first half , and the Warriors had second quarter TDs by land (Kealoha Pilares 2-yard run) and air (Alexander to Aaron Bain for 3 yards). … UH continues to roll at the outset of the third quarter, with Lane scoring again on a 36-yard pass from Alexander. … Daniel Libre later rushes in from 9 yards out, taking advantage of a Keao Monteilh interception. … Libre scores again in the fourth quarter after Richard Torres returns a failed Idaho onsides kick to the Vandals 4.

Rain, rain …

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

By Dave Reardon

General rule of thumb is poor weather helps the underdog team and, also, can hurt a passing team … although some say it helps a passing attack because the receivers know where they’re going, therefore making it more likely that defenders lose their footing on a wet field. Will the rain affect tonight’s game between Idaho and Hawaii?
