Hawaii drops to No. 7 in poll

Think the coaches are making a statement with voting Cal and Hawaii where they are, but doubt the committee cares.
Cal No. 4 Hawaii to 7, UNI, the tournament No. 5 seed up to No. 10. Oregon, which didn’t make the tournament, evenough votes for No. 26.

You can read their reasoning. You can comment. But really, the Missouri Valley Conference with four teams and Oregon gets left out?

Utah State coach said I could quote him.

“Hawaii got hosed.”

Hawaii’s RPI No. 11 today

There was a comment earlier about how (on VT) that the committee followed the RPI strictly. Have to disagree. the only thing they really followed is that the top 16 RPI got seeded. Hawaii would have been very happy to be No. 11, play Alabama A&M, then be looking at a second round vs. the winner of Miami (FLA)-Indiana instead of looking at a second round of Michigan-Washington
I’m looking at the one “generated at 11:11 AM Today (Sunday) sooooo you compare:
RPI Seed
Florida 1 1
Stanford 2 3
Nebraska 3 2
UNI 4 5
Penn State 5 4
Illinois 6 8
Minnesota 7 10
USC 8 6
Dayton 9 14
Cal 10 7
Hawaii 11 15
Texas 12 9
Duke 13 12
Tennessee 14 11
Purdue 15 16
LSU 16 13

Sorry had to write a short story for our website and chat with the team. Here’s the link to the bracket

Pretty junk selection show, no? Think it lasted all of 5 minutes.

Shoji, of course, not happy with the seed or the UW bracket. It’s pretty stacked while you can see Penn State and Florida sort of waltzing through theirs. And No. 3 Stanford probably doesn’t have much of a match until likely meeting USC in the regional final.

Hawaii’s bracket is brutal. with Nebraska, Cal, Minnesota, Michigan. Washington. Gotta feel sorry for Utah State, facing Cal in the first round. So those of you who said USU would be 1 and done, I have to agree now.
Who knows what would have happened if Hawaii had won the WAC. Can only speculate.
Hawaii should win Thursday but they will have to face the winner of Michigan and host UW. That won’t be an easy match.
Heading to the office to write my story. Will check in laters.
