Shoji on win over Utah State

had some stuffs to do.

Ann Miller spoke with Shoji about today’s match.

Shoji said Hewitt  was having back spasms and also just didn’t feel well. Went with Adolpho from Set 2 on.
Also said they would be re-evaluating positions this week, all of them but sounds like libero especially. Griffiths and Blake will get a shot with Maeda
Said all those late blocks came because Utah State “got so predictable.”
Gave them a C-plus for their first road trip: “I think everyone would agree we didnt play as well as we could.”
He said last year’s WAC Tournament result  (loss to Utah State) “came up a little in pregame but not during the match, Aggies had 2 out with injuries. They had it going in Game 1 but they had 3-4 freshmen so they’re not nearly the same team as last year.’

Hawaii-Utah State rewind

Feel it was a very good win for Hawaii, especially considering that Hewitt wasn’t in after Set 1. You could tell by the stats she was having problems elevating (0-2-4) but had 3 BAs.

Wahine did a nice job adjusting to that and Shoji tweaked the lineup to get better match ups.

Danielson is an amazing player, 19-1-40, 11 digs, 1 BS, 7 BA

Croson 14-14-50, 1 SA, 12 digs. her fourth straight double-double

Satele 6-4-20, 6 BA

Hartong 6-1-15, 1 ace, 6 BA

Adolpho 7–0-8. Her size and athleticism creates lots of problems. 8 BA

Griffiths 12 digs in 2 sets.

UH hits 143 for the match. 19.5 blocks, 59 digs

Utah State hit 091. McArthur 16 kills, Sorensen 11. 62 digs, Bodily 21. 7.5 blocks.

Hawaii comes home for two matches next week, Fresno State-Nevada, the two bottom teams in the WAC. Could be the time, as someone pointed out, to give Hewitt a rest and get Adolpho and some other players some time on the court.

gametracker at utahstateaggies.com

they also have a video feed. you need to sign into CBSsports.com. there is a fee.

my espn1420.com keeps fading in and out on computer but if you can get radio, it is working fine.

Hawaii starting the usual. Danielson, Hartong, Satele, Uiato, Croson, Hewitt, Maeda.

It’s homecoming at USU. should be a good crowd.
