Alumnae match & dinner (maybe tickets?)
By Cindy Luis
Tickets still available for Thursday’s alumnae dinner at the SSC. it starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $95. Which includes food & beverages. Opportunity for photos and autographs.
It does not include tickets to the alumnae match on Friday … sort of. Shoji said they hadn’t thought about tickets being part of the dinner.
Shoji said he would make sure anyone who came to the dinner who wasn’t a season-ticket holder (they already get tickets) would get a ticket for Friday. He said he’ll buy them if needed but you need to come to the dinner and discuss it with him.
To buy tickets, call 956-6226.
Alumnae coming are Ah Mow-Santos, Ahuna, Bown, Cubi-Otineru, Danielson, Eleneki, Kaufman, Mafua, Mason, Prince, Robins Akana, Watanabe (think Ashley’s family doing the entertainment)
Others supposed to be coming, Anderson Ambrozich, Brooks, Brown, Fotu, Kahumoku, Ka’aihu Stolzman, Kamana’o Ka’aihue, Lima, Ljungquist (although Ang just got into law school so maybe not), Nobriga, Thurlby (staying over from last weekend), Villaroman.

Is this the only university that has such a big welcoming alumane game like this?
This is the first year of the dinner. I know Long Beach State had a big to-do the weekend before the season started, in part because gold medalist Misty May would be coming back to play
That ought to be fun. To bad its not on tv. I would buy it to see the old timers, if it was on PPV. Like to see how the wahine team of today go up against the wahine’s from the past.
It’s never been on TV. but it would be nice if it were. Guess you’re stuck with my reporting.
That will be just as good. When it comes to wahine volleyball i look fwd for your report anyway, even if i don’t comment i enjoy the other comments.
Wish I could go
this is a great article about Haleigh Washington http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_21521169/haleigh-washington-dohertys-volleyball-star-is-making-her
Please Tara get this young lady to play for Dave Shoji!
thanks for the link; yeah, interesting read and it was nice to hear tara’s name again
When a kid says that she’s going to Penn State guess what, she’s going to Penn State.
Also I’m not familiar with all of the NCAA recruiting rules when it comes to a players HS coach but it seems to me that it would be improper for a HS coach to guide a player to any particular school as it is with a booster.
True enough but we did get someone who transfered from Penn State! Has anyone asked Longo why she went from a top 5 team to UH?
Yes it was asked of her and she said it was financial. She needed either a scholarship or some type of financial aid.
I have no idea what UH gave her but she got what she wanted.
I read the article and it doesn’t say she is going to Penn St. It says she was offered by Penn St….
Sometimes you have to read more than one article.
“Factor in all this with the fact that she’s already “98 percent” sure she’ll commit to Penn State”

Good info to know…it would have been nice if you had mentioned it in your previous post…
not by reason people say 8 girls alreeady in sand team including tiegs and kuulei zalopany. does scott have limit to how many will be in the team?
Emily Mount is also on the beach team
Sand carried 15 this past spring. they need enough for five doubles teams.
Meant to ask Wong about sand after practice this morning but missed the opportunity. will try to get an update soon.
For $95 bucks I can get 9 Taco Bell Party Packs,that’s108 tacos.
True, but it does include adult beverages that you can’t get at The Bell.
The $95 goes to the team. The food and beverages were donated by some of the best restaurants in Honolulu. This is not about you, Vinny, its about the lady alumni wanting to give back to the program.
It’s always about me dude.Me first.
Yes, it is a fundraiser and the lineup of restaurants sounds really good.
Hoping some fan at SSC will make a video of the game and post it on YouTube. Would be great to see the Living Legends of Wahine volleyball.
