Are you a VB magazine subscriber?

Just got off the phone with former Warrior Jason Olive, who is the creative director for Volleyball magazine.
Told him I’d check with you VS bloggers if you subscribe or if you can find it on the magazine racks easily.

Thanks for checking in.

That’s great that Jason has moved up to creative director.
I used to be a subscriber of VB Magazine when I was in HS a few years ago but stopped when I left for college.

I liked it but didn’t like how dated some of the “news” items were. I really like their fab 50 boys and girls issues though.

subscription ended years ago … probably back when i was in high school also …

i think the internet has really changed things. any info i want, i feel like i can usually find it on my own.

I live in southern California and find it very difficult to find the magazine in stirs. Most stores don’t carry it.. Which is disappointing considering so cal is such a volleyball hub.

Usually see it in the national chain stores, such as Borders, but hard to find in the supermarkets and drugstores. Used to pick it up occasionally, but was almost always disappointed. Sparse coverage of the college scene, in which I was most interested, and when it was covered it was months after the matches were played. For example, the NCAA championships were covered about four or five months after. Moreover, the stories and pics were run-of-the mill; few colorful written stories. Love volleyball, would love to support a good magazine that is worth the price.

Yes, magazine deadlines are so early that articles are months behind the news. I know that when I had to write the Sean Scott article it was hard because I am so used to having the latest stats. it was out six weeks later.
Agree the internet has changed everything. people are so used to the immediacy of the news that magazine can be very outdated.
I’ll pass along your valuable comments to Olive, who’s hosting his big Jay-O Foundation tourney this weekend in SoCal. Thanks for the feedback.
