Call the Coach recap

March 29th, 2011

Not a lot of calls …
Wade recapped the road trip, discussed why it was better to stay on the road than come back but did say he’s talked to the MPSF about the schedule, that BYU didn’t want to play Mon-Tues (gate reasons, much like UH wouldn’t want to play Mon-Tue). Said the league wouldn’t do it that way again.
Talk a little about qualifying for the MPSF tournament again and how they’re hoping to host. They still have chance. Said they aren’t overlooking CSUN ’cause they can get hot, as they showed when sweeping BYU.
Scoot asked about what matchup he didn’t want. Said he feels they could beat anyone but no one in the league wanted to go to BYU.
talked a little bit about having 5 middles in practice for the first time in a while.
And chatted a little bit about the upcoming alumni weekend. golf tournament, banquet and match the 16th.
That Jonas was a contender for nationaal player of the year but thought it would go to a senior, someone like Murphy Troy of SC.said Jonas had no plans to play pro after UH, that he was going to be a mechanical engineer.
Did say that Walker would have a tryout this summer with the natioal team and that Zemljak could be going for Oly beach trials.

    Had an interesting comment about the difference between last year and this year. He said something to the effect that last years team won every close match. This years team has lost a lot of close matches, they are winless in 5 game matches this year. It’s a little dissapointing that he feels they left a lot of potential wins on the table.

    Just imagine if they had pulled out those wins against Stanford, Irvine, BYU, and UCSD. They could be battling for second place instead of being in sixth.

    What I do like is that chances are good that there could/would (potentially) be a split, in the series, with USC still.

    What I don’t like is that MANY are taking CSNU a bit lightly…assuming the automatic two win victory(s).

    ‘Let’s’ do it tho Bows;
