Candidates … Final wishes
By Dave Reardon
Doris Sullivan, who has an outstanding record in helping local athletes get college scholarships, and former Warriors player Tony Tuioti are among the candidates for a new position in the UH football office.
Technically, it can’t be called recruiting coordinator, but at least some of the work would entail handling nuts and bolts in that area.

Hopefully you all have many, many more years to live. But if you were to make a “Bucket List,” what would be the things in sports you’d like to do or see happen before you kick it?

I hope they can work it out to hire both Doris and Tony. What a package that would be.

Here are some things in sports I’d like to see before I kick the bucket:
1) UH opening a 40,000 seat on campus football only stadium;
2) instant replay for major league baseball playoffs and the World Series;
3) NASCAR officials admitting all of its races are fixed–just like pro wrestling;
4) the UH football team winning a BCS bowl game; and
5) the San Francisco Giants winning the World Series.

It seems that there’s no one that works harder for our young men and women than Doris Sullivan. It’s been reported that she and her husband have put it quite a bit of money to keep PIAA afloat. I’m pulling for Doris as she would make a great recruiting coordinator. But PIAA will surely miss her.
Bucket List:
1. Attend a Superbowl Game
2. See UH Football once again average
45,000 fans for home games
3. Consistant top 20 ranking for UH
Football
3. See Bob Nash turn our basketball
team into WAC title contenders every
year and make post season play a
regular thing.
4. UH being invited to join the Pac 10
conference.
5. Attend 2 to 3 more BCS Bowls where UH
is a participant.
Not really asking for much…

Bucket/wish List:
1. Attend Superbowl Game
2. See Colt Brennan win a Superbowl Game, and prove the naysayers wrong
3. UH own their own football stadium with the profits all going to UH athletics
4. UH Football win a BCS bowl game
5. Attend Wimbledon
6. Attend World Cup Finals (U.S. vs. Brazil or other power house like Germany)
7. UH win the national title in Football and Basketball in the same year
8. UH wahine volleyball win national championship. Its getting hard to remember the last one
9. UH being invited to PAC 10, and then UH turn it down because WAC has broke out of the mid-major reputation with Fresno, UH and Bosie leading the way.
10. UH become of such great reputation in sports that all the top athletes in Hawaii want to stay home to play for the home team. We can start with Manti Te’o.
11. Coach Mack have the highest winning percentage of any football coach in the NCAA when he retires in 15 YEARS!
12. Win 4 parley football bets in a row in Las Vegas so I can filthy rich, and donate an obsene amount of money to the UH athletic program.

From everything I’ve heard, I’d want Doris Sullivan on my team. UH should grab her.
Things I’d like to see in sports before I kick the bucket:
1. A 100-yard dash between Dave Reardon and Stephen Tsai in the style of the old Greeks – ergo, buck naked.
2. A cage match between Greg McMackin and June Jones. If June wins, forget the $400,000. No nakedness here, especially if they have to go to the ground and pound.
3. A one-on-one hoops contest between Bob Nash and Mayor Mufi. If Mufi wins, everyone shuts up about rail. (Mufi played for Harvard, he’s no slouch!)
4. A boxing match between Herman Frazier and Jim Donovan. Jim was a very good footballer, but Herman looks like he can still swing. You’d have to find a facility that could accomodate Jim’s cheering section, though.
5. And last, well, my one wish was granted back in the day thanks to Bob Wagner, Garret Gabriel and company. Beat BYU. For die-hard UH fans who suffered through all those losses, that was the sweetest win ever. We can all die now.

3. Manti Te’o stays home
4. Manti Te’o stays home
5. Manti Te’o stays home
6. Manti Te’o stays home
7. Manti Te’o stays home
etc.

At the risk of being un-original, ditto Kaimuki boy’s bucket list. I couldn’t have said it better. I also have to second Manoa Mist’s list…funny stuff!

MM,
You are one funny dude.
You’d better make No. 1 your last pick, because seeing ST and me naked might kill you on the spot.
