Three former Hawaii All-American volleyball players and a Punahou graduate today were among the 12 nominated by USA Volleyball to compete in next month’s Olympics, pending official confirmation by the United States Olympic Committee.Ex-Rainbow Wahine selected were: setter Robyn Ah Mow-Santos, middle Heather Bown and outside hitter Kim Willoughby. Also selected was former Punahou setter Lindsey Berg. Named to her third Olympic team was Stanford great Logan Tom, who is part=Hawaiian and the daughter of the late Mel Tom, a former NFL player. This will be the third Olympics for Ah Mow-Santos and Bown, the second for Berg. It is the first Olympics for Willoughby, who only recently joiined the national team. http://www.usavolleyball.org/national/08WNTOlympicNominationRoster.asp

Wonderful news!!! Awesome that Kim Willoughby has made her first Olympic team along with Robyn and Heather. That definately is terrific for the University of Hawaii volleyball program.
But isn’t this the third Olympics for both Ah Mow and Bown? I believe they both played in the 2000 Olympics as well, no?
Thanks. It is the third. I did correct it earlier.
Congrats to the Wahines. Bring home the gold.
Wow. Almost 1/2 the team have at least Hawai’i connections! If they win any medal, the team should do a victory lap here.
What about Angelica Lundquist?
Is she playing for Sweden?
Sweden not one of the 12 teams on the Beijing olympic site.
she tried to qualify on the beach with Karin Lundquist
It’s nice to see former Wahine players on the national team. But our national VB team will not medal at the Olympic games. Our country’s best team athletes do not play VB. They play basketball, softball, and soccer. Those teams have the best chance to medal.
Half of the U.S. Squad are former Hawaii All-Americans. Kim Willoughby made it in just her first try, she will be exciting to watch!!!
