Donovan contract done

UH athletic director Jim Donovan’s contract is finally done. The $240,000 per year contract at five years has been signed by Donovan and Manoa chancellor Virginia Hinshaw, UH spokesman Gregg Takayama said.

It does not require Board of Regents approval because the salary falls into a pre-approved range.

At Friday’s BOR meeting, the agenda includes proposed salary adjustments for scores of UH executives. Included are Marilyn Moniz-Kahoohanohano, John McNamara and Carl Clapp. If passed, the proposal would bring their monthly salaries to $7,860, $12,014 and $12,084.

    Why is Marilyn the lowest paid of the three? As the Senior Women’s Administrator isnt she due for a higher salary? Title IX? Does it come into play.

    Safe to say, Wahine Athletics in the UH sports history have been more successful than the men? And Marilyn’s been around some of those years.

    Marilyn-Moniz Kahoohanohano deserves a ton more.

    The only comment I get is how come the contracts take so long at UH. I got a bad after taste with the Fraiser-Jones contract fiasco. It’s not that big of deal now because we have Donovan and McMakin, but still I hope UH learns from last year. Yeah, I stay talking to those above the AD in the administration at UH.

    Jimbo stay right too. By the way, that is big bucks.

    Wahine athletics is blue chip, especially considering the geographic and budget restrictions. The Wahine’s performance is why Hawaii ranks so high Nationally in combined sports ratings. The only Wahine disaster is basketball which is the biggest money loser by far. Bolla should have been fired for his absolutely dismal performance, especially when he insulted Vince Goo. Marilyn definely is underpaid and more in the community should complain. She even has a law degree.
