Ferrell out for spring match

By Cindy Luis

Sorry, thought this got posted last night. Stephanie Ferrell fractured her left ankle in practice Tuesday It required surgery. She is out for Thursday’s match with Nebraska. With Cubi-Otineru out (knee surgery), UH down to 1 OH (Danielson). Not sure what they’re going to do. Shoji said something about maybe getting Houston and/or Hittle to play. If not … may see Brandt on the outside. Another option is moving Kaufman out there. We’ll see what happens.

I guess Ferrell will be ready for the regular season but it’s unbelievable that Shoji would let the 09 recruiting go to beans .He knew that there was a depth problem at the OH position and with the thousands of 09 OH available he can’t even come up with one but instead he depends on waiting to see if a non qualifier transfer at some lower division school can qualify or rely on converting someone like Tuaniga ? I believe he had 3 scholarships available for 09 and he only used one so far that we know of.

Tara has a sore knee from basketball but I’d like to see her play one more time as a OH. Can the redshirts play or have to wait until August this year to see playing time.

I’ll know more after practice tomorrow (Saturday). Kaufman on the mainland with track team so not sure how she’ll be used. I know that both Mafua and Brandt are taking swings on the outside. Too bad Keefe left for the mainland.
Don’t believe the redshirts can play. but will confirm that. as well as what happens with Hittle and Houston.

I guess Shoji is not worried, because its only a spring match. Good luck to Ferrell, and
    Ontineru on a speedy recovery.
