Gerke exodus was in the works
By Dave Reardon
We were told last night that UH running backs coach Alex Gerke was on his way out of Manoa for a few weeks, and that yesterday he was at Utah State formalizing his hiring there. It had nothing to do with the loss to Notre Dame.

What was the reason?

Well, at least part of it is that the new Utah State head coach, Gary Anderson, and Gerke are very good friends. Also, the state of Utah is home to Gerke.

didnt he split his time between running backs and the O-line? 1 down 1 (brian smith) to go.

He helped out with the o-line, but job title was rbs coach.

I just hope with the coaching carousel we have the right vacancies come open, and better yet, I hope we get the right candidates to fill the jobs.

We need to have more african americans on our staff not because they will recruit african american athletes, but because its the right thing to do. There are a lot of qualified candidates out there, Coach Mac I hope you read this.
