Great to see Yuval today

He brought wife Orna and 9-month-old daughter Hili to luncheon. Finishing up his MBA. he works in finance in Tel Aviv.
good catching up with him. took them almost 40 hours to get him, 30 of that flying. that’s a long trip.
Looks like he could still play. He’s going over the Big Island for a few days, back here for a couple, leaving Wednesday. Unfortunately he can’t stay long enough for the men against Pepperdine.
Brought back some really good memories. I was chatting with wife while he was being interviewed for TV, telling her some of the stories of Aaron Wilton in laundry baskets and Sivan’s craziness. She said she knows bits and pieces but that Yuval is very humble and doesn’t talk about his individual accomplishments.

    CONGRATS!!!
    Well deserved, imo.

agree. I didn’t have room to put in some of his observations about how the game has changed. he played both the old rules and rally score as a pro. asked him if he missed the second toss he was so famous for when serving. he said it gave him a chance to relax. But he knows he would have had a lot more aces if they had the ‘let’ serve back them.

forgot about that 2nd. almost could’ve argued it was intentional. What a momentum buster for the opposing team.

Jim Leahey interviewed Katz during the women’s basketball game at halftime. It was an interesting interview. Didn’t really watch way back then but heard about Katz. It was funny how he said he sent 10 tapes to 10 different schools and only Wilton responded. He seems to be doing real well and is happy. A long trip here and a long trip back home, though. At least he felt it was worth the trip.

I just wish the crowds would show up now. I think Umlauft is a great player. I think he would relish in the big crowd appearance. It scares me to think what this year’s record would have been if Umlauft was not playing here.

      Ahhh.
-People in Hi. pay twice as much to view matches in person than any of the other programs in the nation.
-KFVE televises those same games live and rebroadcasts on the tube.
-People would rather eat out(@restuarants than sit the whole time in the SSC, imo).

So I’d have to say that it won’t happen again…not in today’s economy.
It’s too bad, also. As you’ve said Umlauft–i’m sure–would be pumped about those spectators…who wouldn’t be?!

*Moreover, those crowds rallied around #s1,2,3 ranked teams.
