Happy with the new O-line coach?

By Dave Reardon

Of course, time will tell. Gordon Shaw has coached some great players and has plenty of experience. That experience includes being on the Minnesota staff that lost 17-3 to Fred vonAppen’s Hawaii team in 1997.

Hope he is the fix we need. Interesting though to see all the support that was once touted for Brian Smith out the window. I wonder what they’ll do with him. His specialty is supposed to be o-line, where does he go now, ST?

I’m thinking he might go to RB.

I was excited when I heard Kani Kauahi’s name mentioned as a candidate for O-line coach. Former UH player with NFL playing and coaching experience–that’s just what the program needs. Then I was surprised to hear that the job was awarded to Gordon Shaw. Made me scratch my head and say “who?” However, the more I learned about Shaw, the better I felt about Coach Mack’s decision. The man definitely has experience and I’m willing to give him a chance to see what he can do to help our O-line.

    We’ll see…

His stats from last school sounds good but that doesn’t mean its gonna be the same here in Hawaii. I have hope for him…

Protect the QB… that’s the key!!!

Blocking is the name of the game for the Big Mack Attack – pass or run block is always a demand on coaches. Hopefully, this season will find improvement with our new coach. Welcome to Hawaii!! AlohaandOouuttt…

I take it that Reardon doesn’t approve of Coach Mac’s choice by that opening statement. You can’t please everyone. The important thing is the kids are excited about this guy and that’s what really matters.

  9. kipi Says:

only time will tell….i hope it’s not halfway thru the season but then again at least we will see an improvement and build from that point….good luck coach shaw and welcome to the warrior nation….
