Hawaii at Stanford Wednesday

Hawaii wins Game 1 30-26. Close until 16-16. UH scored three straight to take the lead for good at 19-16. Sounds like an ILH match with UH’s Carney (Iolani) and Frank (Kamehameha) against Stanford’s Shoji (Iolani), McLachlin (Punahou) and Inafuku (Kamehameha). McLachlin had seven kills in Game 1, five kills for Clar.

After spending some time at the bottom of the MPSF, Stanford’s made great improvements with the addition of all the Hawaii guys. If Hawaii can pull out this match, it should give them some confidence going forward. I think it’ll be tough, though, to beat Kawika and Co.

It’s beginning to look like that. Stanford wins Game 3 30-25… and it wasn’t that close. Hawaii held off three game points. It was 29-22. Close again early. Tied at 13. McLachlin had consecutive aces as the Cardinal took the lead for good at 16-13.

Going to five. Hawaii rallies from being down 26-24 and 27-25. An ace by Rawson gives Warriors game point at 29-28. Hitting error by Stanford ends it.

    Stanford wins Game 5 16-14
