Hawaii faces Belmont Friday in USC sub-regional
By Cindy Luis
Shoji actually called this one. He thought going to USC was a real possibility.I suggested San Diego but he thought USD would be seeded too to end up in his bracket.instead … Hawaii (28-3) will be heading to the sub-regional hosted by USC this week as the seventh overall seed in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament. The Rainbow Wahine put their 15-match winning streak on the line against Belmont (25-7), the champion of the Atlantic Sun Conference, in a first-round match Friday. In the other match, host USC (16-11) faces San Diego (23-4), the West Coast Conference champion. The winner of the sub-regional at USC advances to the regional at Colorado State. Also seeded in that regional is No. 2 Stanford. The overall No. 1 seed is defending champion Penn State (32-0) with Texas No. 3.

is K5 trying to negotiate the rights to televise the matches?
the wahine have to come out fast…Cal Poly was a good tuneup and gave DS a look at our setters and bench depth.
Jamie Houston and Nickie Thomas performed at a high level…best wishes to da wahine!
Warrior 15, Don’t know about K5 yet. John Fink was at the selection show but he left before we could chat.
And yes, Lori, Cal Poly was a good tune-up. That 5-set on Wednesday was exactly what Hawaii needed.
Even if USC makes it past San Diego to play on Saturday, there won’t be anyone on USC campus to watch.
The USC-UCLA game is that evening at the Rose Bowl….
Attendance will be less than 3,000…for all 3 matches combined. That’s what we would’ve had with the first match of the 3 matches played in the sub-regional…
Wait to go, NCAA…
Anybody know who’s on the travel roster?
Yep, Don. and USC is not happy about it (neither am I as a UCLA grad)
Mick Haley told me he doesn’t understand about the schedule. His bid was to host Thursday-Friday.
as for the travel roster, I’ll know that this afternoon.
Oh, same thing as at UCLA. they wanted thursday-friday … it’s friday-saturday. Why am I not surprised about the No Clue At All people.
BTW, the UCLA-SC football game is at 1:30 at the Rose Bowl, not an evening game.
