Hawaii-UCI rewind

what to say about this one. another win-able match, but give UCI credit. they made the adjustments they needed to. 5 blocks in Set 4.
Way too much to Hunt tonight. 19-6.-45. West 8-3-15, he was 0-0-3 in Set 4. Averill 10-1-23, Lovy 7-0-10, Marks 7-6-21, he was 0-3-3 in Set 4. Castello with 12 digs, Marks 10. UH with 1 block in set 4, 1 aces, 5 SEs.
For UCI, Clark 19-4-35, Dejno 15-5-32, McDonnell 12-19. 5 aces, 20 SEs. 1 ace, 5 SEs in Set 4
Hawaii much better when it used the middles more. thought the passing was good enough to run the middles more. Biscaro’s set location is getting better but probably leading Hunt to much on the left. he doesn’t see that comfortable on the D set, like Zemljak was to Umlauft last season.
And I think they could have thrown in some of the plays they’ve ten working on, like the back slide to West. at least give it a shot and split the block.
gotta chase down speraw. for tsai. laters.

Volleyshots

didn’t have a chance to talk to Wade but got Speraw. he said the biggest stat doesn’t show up in the box score and that was how his team did in transition. said they spent a lot of time working on the connection with Clark and it paid off. thought West started off well and that Sunshine (averill) probably had the best match that UH has gotten out of an opposite. said it was an ugly win and that the match came down to his team doing what they do best better than what UH does best. thought the serving was OK but that their aces came at big times. Over the hill to Kailua. good night.

Biscaro needs to set His hot players more, last night it was averill, not hunt.
Frankly, I’m not sure UH want to win. Will someone tell me why in the 3rd set (where it really matters who wins the set) at 23-23, Lofy is allowed to go back and serve one of his soft serves right into the lap of UCI. That point lost would have been easier to swallow if Timmer or Sedore served it out but at a higher speed, but to have Lofy just serve it in their lap tells me maybe the coaches were not interested in winning the game. If that’s the case, then I for one will step away from watching the game. It is absolutely mindboggling. It just set UH up for losing the 4th set. And since Biscarro is also serving one of those soft serves, he’s got no business serving it off the court. Also Biscarro always starts out with setting the middles and then after the middle has been established, it is Hunt Hunt Hunt Hunt Hunt Hunt occasionally Marks then Hunt Hunt Hunt Hunt then maybe Averill then Hunt Hunt Hunt Hunt then maybe Marks again then Hunt Hunt Hunt Hunt Hunt Hunt Hunt . . . well, you get the picture. Hunt carried them through Pacific but Pacific is not UCI. They aren’t as easy to beat with Hunt alone. This consistently going to Hunt too much has been a pattern in many games.
I second most peeps here, Hunt needs to be consistent first otherwise the offense needs a lot of work I dont even know if Wade is setting up the new guys for next year with this “Hunt” deal.
Steve is a good player, When he gets a good set he really crushes it down (unfortunately that doesn’t always happen with Biscaro)
Steven is good, has the ability to crush it, particularly with a 1-on-1 situation. can go over the block. Agree, the connection with Biscaro hasn’t been great. But Hunt had problems with Zemljak as well. the difference is there is no Umlauft to take the pressure off Hunt this season.
