Hawaii stays at No. 10, 1 first-place vote

August 29th, 2011

Somewhat of a surprise that the Wahine got a first-place vote, especially since the AVCA didn’t report the win over Arizona. but voters easily had access to that result.

Anyway, Cal at No. 1, 31 votes
2. Penn State, 11
3. USC 5
4. Texas 9
5. Nebraska, 1
6. Stanford, 1
7. Illinois
8. Washington
9. Florida
10. Hawaii, 1

the poll overall seems a mess. the coaches are having a tough time figuring out who goes where, as evidenced in part by the scattered #1 votes.

just means it’s anyone’s guess … and a wide open year will only make it “funner”!! :)

Good, makes an interesting/exciting vb season.

an interesting note … Hawaii stayed at #10 … gained a #1 vote … but actually lost a few total points …

shows that there was a lot of movement in the say some/many coaches voted … even if many teams stayed at or near where they were last week.

The AVCA website shows Hawaii’s record as 2-0. I wonder if coaches voted before the end of the match and didn’t give the Wahine credit for trouncing Arizona.

Yes, if you read my original post, I say that that AVCA didn’t have the UofA result listed.
But a lot of coaches do vote on Sundays. But it’s very easy for them to see the score online.

I guess some voters are easily swayed… First place vote for Oregon? Riiiight.
