Hawaii to No. 5, behind Stanford, Penn St., Florida and Nebraska
USC to 6, Washington to 7, Cal to 8. Illinois dropped to 8 and Iowa State to 11.
Texas (6-4) dropped from 8 to 12.

Volleyshots

At one time the weekly NCAA Attendance figures was recorded by an individual at Wisconsin and a link available on their web site but that is no longer the case unless I don’t know where to look.
The NCAA has a page on the subject but it’s not updated yet I still see the media giving out national weekly attendance figures, where are they getting it from ?
I read something Ann did recently and she mentioned that Nebraska pass us last week.
ncaa weekly attendance on AVCA.org. i’ll have to look for the link
yeah im a fool with a computer too and i just don’t know where to look.
Surprizingly attendance at th RUNZA/AVCA SHOWCASE at the Quest Center wasn’t that great, 5,853 vs Kentucky, 5,978 vs Florida. The 11,892 attendance for the Illinois match was at the Devaney Sports Ctr, which is on campus. Didn’t UH count the attendance at the HIC.
LO, believe UH counted attendance at the HIC/Blaisdell over the years. UH officially began leading the country in attendance after moving to the SSC.
So what’s the consensus? Will Nebraska lead the nation in attendance after they move to Devaney? BTW, how much do they charge for attendance to wv matches?
they just might. i’m sure there will be a lot of excitement – at least initially – with the move. with fans wanting to see what the $27 million in renovations will do for the arena.
I also read that in one of Ann’s story. I belive it was the match between Nebraska and Illinos where they had alittle over 11000 or something like that.I also read something about Nebraska moving their vollyball matches into a larger arena next year, so maybe they will start getting more fans.
After over one hundred consecutive sellouts at the NU Coliseum(4,030 seats), the Huskers are revnovationing the Devaney Sports Center(13,595 seats). They are planning on having 7,000 seats for volleyball, with an added capacity of 3,000 more for other events.
glad to hear that. they outgrew 4,000 a while ago. we’ll see if they can sell out a 7,000
some of the Nebraska fans questioned it too (there was a VT thread on that topic in the last week or so…)
How can USC be lower than the Wahine? Did they lose a ton of games?
Some folks think that it’s because UH played USC late on Sunday, and some of the voters had already cast their ballots before learning of the result.
but people have seen the results since then. so my guess is strength of schedule?
USC weak schedule maybe ? I actually think they are ranker too high.
The PAC 10 conference schedule will sort things out. We’ll find out then, who we’ll have to beat to win the title.
Point wise USC is not that far behind UH. Only by about 13 points which makes them more even than anything.
redzone, on sept 18th, you wrote “As I was watching the match I couldn’t help think how Michelle Warner looked like Bobby Darin. It was that kind of match….” since then, i’ve been hoping for some clarification; basically, i wanna know, “who is bobby darin?” i think it’s the singer from decades ago but lyle is wondering if it’s a female player who used to play for byu. would you please clarify and sorry for posting this here…
The poll is 60 coaches voting. The NCAA committee doesn’t use it to seed the tournament. but they probably should. UH seeded 13th last year, when wahine were ranked 3. UH finished 3.
SFF, strength of schedule. Plus, coaches are only looking at who was where last week and what they did. SC started pretty low and even though they beat UH, UH has a pretty tough schedule. plus they started up so high.
They use the AVCA poll. Just go to the AVCA website.
http://www.avca.org/divisions/division-one-women/poll-9-20-10/
doesnt it ever get old talking about who should be where and why one team is ranked high or lower than the other…
the avca poll doesnt reflect how hawaii is seeded in the post-season therefore the only avca poll i pay attention to is the final poll come december!
but who cares what I think, just fool with a computer.
lol there u go again wasting ur day trying to make me look bad!! i love the fact that anythig i say bothers you…
>>but who cares what I think,just fool with a computer.<<
That can be a deadly combination these days!
Didn’t go to the saturday game with BYU but viewing the video, noticed a tall, blonde sitting at the floor table at the left end. She has a facial similarity to Brittany Howard. Info anyone?
probably some tall blonde girl watching the game…
Brittany Howard is a brunette.
I read about the new set up at Nebraska in one of their newspapers.
Seating will increase to 7000 but it can be expanded to 10,000.It’s another one of those curtain set ups.
Cindy said “Nebraska can count the Qwest Center as a home match” but according to Nebraska fans it’s an away match because it’s in Omaha.
The Bob however which is on campus and seats around 15,000 is counted as a home match.
Nebraska HAS counted the Qwest as a home match in the past. Perhaps they no longer do.
Florida used to be in the top in attendance as well but that’s when they let everyone in for free. When they started charging, attendance dropped.
Cindy – do you know about when the first RPI gets released?
sorry, no, don’t know about the RPI release.
Just checked the NCAA stats… Brittany moves down a spot to no. 2 in blocks/set (within a tenth of no.1)… Kanani down to 9th in kills/set… Enjoyed watching the matches live… Will be seeing them again at the Orleans…
utah st in 3 days are they overated? i think they have beaten the wahine a few years back in SSC not sure i hope they give the wahine a great game they need it .Are there many women coaching men’s volleyball?
Not a lot of women coaching in men’s volleyball. As Wade said, fewer opportunities than at the women’s level.
Did you know that Hawai`i became interested in Monica Stauber when she attended one of Dave’s camps when she was just a freshman ?
In an interview with the OC varsity she says that she has a lot of family here and it was her #1 pick.
Do Los Al players miss Croson ? Los Al won the Dave Mohs Tournament this pass weekend and her former coach said
“They’ve said all the right things since the season started,” Huber said. “They are motivated. I think they want to show it’s not about one or two players.”
in another month or so they’ll be singing another tune
Keep Movin on up!!!!
GO WAHINE!!!!
I was just looking at the win/loss records of the WAC teams then checked their schedules.Yikes talk about soft.
Anyone taking Boise State at 12-2 seriously ?
ppreseason rankings are only a useful tool for the NCAA selections come tourney time. They’ll say 6 or 7 teams from the PAC 10, big 12, SEC, Big 10 going to the playoffs are justified because of their strenght of schedule. Of course theyll forget Hawaiis wins and make the wahine a 16th seed again
the NCAA committee doesn’t consider the AVCA poll in deciding at-large bids for the tournament.
And they obviously don’t use it when considering the automatics.
right!
Here is the write up on the Nebraska move in 2012 .
