Hawaii-Utah State rewind
By Cindy Luis
Hawaii had pretty good fucus until the end but they also had a new starting lineup with Forsythe and Fowler in.
First two sets weren’t even as close as the scores 25-11, 25-12. Wahine hit .464 in Set 1, .514 in Set 2. Had as many errors in Set 3 as in 1 and 2 combined (6). hit .290. But they still hit .426 for the night.
Cubi-Otineru hit very well from all sides and the Utah State coached very impressed with Hawaii 3-meter attack. said they couldn’t duplicate Hawaii’s hitting power on the outsides. Thought the middle attack was very good too.

Any updates on the men’s team? Assistant coach hired yet?
Looks like they just released they’re 2010 schedule. 17 home matches. When do they start fall practices for the Stanford exhibitions?
Saw a bunch of them at the arena last night. We’ll be loaded on the outside with Tuaniga, Strotman, Dyer, Walker, and Steven Hunt. They’ll all be back right?
Add in Jonas Umlauft. Should be a fun season.

I posted the schedule on this site last week. No word on an assistant. Wade said he had a number of good applicants. The players you mention are all back. They haven’t updated their roster on line. Believe practice started this morning.

Cindy, what do you think is a realistic chance that UH will be able to host the regionals? With a number three ranking this year, shouldn’t we have a better chance than in the past few seasons?

I still get a kick out out how many kills Jayme Lee has had as a DS/L over the years!

I think it was her sophomore year that I wrote she was the master of the dig=kill. when she was 5-0-5. she was 2-0-2 last year and 1-0-1 this year. 1-2-4 as a freshman.

Is it my imagination or was Senior Night this year a lot more festive? There were tons of lei and it seemed to last longer after the ceremonies were over.
