Spoke with Shoji (we’re both trying to get game tracker to work for the Stanford-BYU game)
Hewitt hasn’t made up her mind yet but he said there may be a decision as early as next week.
and yes, Wahine having a spring match vs. Nebraska, March 23 at War Memorial. Tentative time 6 p.m.
As for Fonoimoana, she is not currently eligible. But is in school.
As for a transfer, said they need an outside hitter, not a middle.

Thanks Cindy.I’ve always have said that even in the off season you have to feed the animals a few tidbits every now and then to keep them happy.
I heard that this OH is leaving NMS.
#19 Kiley Mansfield
Position: OH
Height: 6′2″
Year: Freshman
Hometown: Chico, Calif.
High School: Pleasant Valley H
Shoji wasn’t willing to talk about transfers, other than to say there are a lot out there and that they may end up with one. Asked about Amaro. He said that since she technically never enrolled at Arizona that she is basically a free agent and able to sign with someone.
…and now back to Stockton…UH wins set 1 25-21…impressive. Sam has learned the backset and Charlie didn’t even call a TO…
Where is Mansfield transferring to?
Don’t know, not sure how reliable the info is.She was listed in the student directory last semester but not this semester.
Thanks Cindy
Finally got something on the Wahine’s.
Is there a rule as to when schools have to finalize incoming transfers?
3 things we can all look forward to:
FF do well this semester so she can be eligible fo Fall season
Hewitt comes back and becomes the nation’s top blocker as she was in ‘10 season
and
Get another OH that’s going to impact the team right away and come close to fill the holes both Danielson and Satele left.
no rule that I know of. UH usually doesn’t put up transfers on roster until they are enrolled for that particular semester the sport begins. ex: Cat Fowler transferred from Arkanas, didn’t appear on the roster until fall semester started. although we knew when double days started she was on the roster.
As of this minute the Wahine have four OH, four MH. Not counting Hewitt or FF.
OH
Croson so.
Goodman jr.
Long rfr.
Olevao fr. may redshirt
MH
Hartong jr.
Adolpho so.
Tuaniga jr.
Vorster rfr.
Should Hewitt return, FF able to join the team, Wahine will look really good. If either doesn’t, it will require an adjustment. If both, looks gloom w/o a good OH transfer.
Counting Hewitt we have ten players (assuming Stauber) on scholarship for 2012. Shoji will likely keep the one open for FF. If Hewitt leaves it opens another scholarship for 2012, leaving two schlarships availble for Taylor and Higgins in 2013. If he is looking for a OH transfer for 2012, the scholarship is could only available for one year unless some else leaves or either Higgins, Taylor agree to walk on for a year.
Should Hewitt & FF be available for 2012 everything should be coming up roses.
Cindy,
Just to be clear, you’re referring to OH Halli Amaro (2010 OC POY & former teammate of Emily & Jane @ Los Alamitos HS) right?

Kapa, yes, guess you haven’t been involved with the speculation of Amaro coming here. All Shoji said he didn’t didn’t another MB for ‘that’ class.
Is FF enrolled at UH or a community college? I keep seeing that she’s in school but it’s not clear where.
can’t tell you for sure. She was at UH-Manoa in fall.
Wasn’t there a new rule for pre-season traveling where they are only allowed a certain amount of miles with the exception of Hawaii leaving to another state?
But I’m happy Hartong gets tryout for the National Team! If she makes it as an outside, it will make great practice for next year if they need her there or if Shoji plans to keep switch her position!
Thanks for the info Cindy!
