Huskies delayed

We have it from a good source that the Washington football contingent is still on the ground in Seattle, waiting out a flight delay.

That’s the problem with commando raids … if something goes wrong, you can end up cutting things really close.

It’s 27 hours ’til kickoff and the Huskies are still half an ocean away from Aloha Stadium.

I wonder if thats the Northwest Flight 807? Expected arrival is 30 Nov 2007 21:19 HST, but they departed Seatac at 17:20 PST. With a 5:36 hours of flight time, that would mean that the plane would not reach the terminal till around 30Nov2007 2300 PST or 1Dec2007 0100 HST. That would give them 17:30 left before the game starts!

If thats the case, then they might use that excuse why they horribly lost to Hawaii and give them pundits more ammo.

Stand corrected. Their flight is ATA 6317. They’ll get in around 10pm HST.

Thanks Ewakai. We can track the Huskies flight like the Boston reporters tracked Daisuke’s flight from Japan. One thing though … Hawaii time would be two hours earlier than Pacific, not the other way. So the arrival would be 9 p.m., not 1 a.m. our time.

Don’t understand why UW would attempt this “commando raid” travelling west for a night game. If they stay on Pacific time, the 4th quarter will start around midnight for them.

A few reasons to attempt it:

      1. Less time in Hawaii before game to fall victim to distractions.
      2. Willingham is a stickler for school, and they miss fewer classes this way (although they return Monday, so unless they leave very early in the morning they probably miss classes that day).
      3. Practice new stuff in controlled environment.
      4. Have fun after game, not before.

But I don’t think it’s a good idea. You just need one thing to go wrong to throw you off a tight schedule, as has happened in this case.

Relax. I’ll make any comment I want about the Red Sox. I’ve been a fan of theirs since 1964. But I won’t be making many here, since this is a UH football blog.
