There will be at least 2 when practice opens Saturday. My understanding is it’s Sarah Prather (Bishop Montgomery) and Emily Maeda (Roosevelt)

Good luck to these two. They’ll probably make the team, depending on the number of players Dave plans to carry.

  2. Cindy Luis Says:

Dave doesn’t carry more than 18. With the two-walkons and two freshmen they are at 16. There’s always one or two surprise walk-ons who usually last a day or two. one time one didn’t come back for the second session of Day 1.

Since Emily Maeda’s photo is already up at the UH website (http://www.hawaiiathletics.com/Player/player.html?pa=12|14347) and we’ve been hearing about Sarah Prather ( http://www.hawaiiathletics.com/Player/player.html?pa=12|14338) for some time already, I’m optimistic that they’ll make the team. Didn’t Dave carry 19 players in 2006? Makana Recca was the lone surviving walk-on after two or three left before the try out process was completed.

Sorry, the above comment was missing a word. Dave doesn’t usually carry more than 18.
and yes, the Maeda and Prather are expected to make the team, have been assigned numbers and will be in the media guide.
