Since Colt Brennan performed well,
do you guys think that hawaii players such as Dan “ice man” Kelly, “King Solomon” Elmimian, and David Vekuine will get a fair shot in next years upcoming NFL draft? It was a shame to see Brennan fall all the way to the 6th round. Hopefully these UH seniors will get a fair shake

The achievements UH Football has experienced transcends beyond the borders of Cooke Field and Aloha Stadium. It is far above ESPN coverage and BCS bowl games. In the past few years it has vaulted the organization into the national spotlight, finally garnering the respect it deserves, and although victories will always be measured in the W column, I think it also important to recognize just how much the team means to the people of Hawaii.
I have personally witnessed the power it has at last year’s epic game against Washington. Seeing all different people from all walks of life, come together to cheer the team on was nothing short of awesome. No words can accurately describe the energy of 50,000 passionate fans screaming at the top of their lungs.

…..another tidbit on the upcoming football season. Have we “arrived?” The “we” I’m talking about is not the team, but us fans. The “best fans in the land” thing has been used by Coach Mack a few times and our representation at the Sugar Bowl was nothing short spectacular. But really, have we arrived? Have we truly become fans that will support our UH Footballers even if this year does not go as good as last? Will a not-so-good showing at Florida truly expose the “fair weather” fan most of us have come to be? We are in a perfect situation to build something great. Are we in for the long haul? Based on what I’ve heard and seen so far from Joe Fan, I’m not so convinced. Let’s go fans! Support the Warriors REGARDLESS. That is what “best fans in the land” do.

that’s a great question BIK.
from what i’ve seen from my own friends, i’d say no. a real “fan” would never sell their UW or BSU ticket just to make a quick buck no matter how big the profit is. real fans had waited for that moment for a looong time and no way were they gonna miss being there. if we do get blown out by UF, and considering the home opener is a D1AA, doubt we even break 30k. sad to say but us hawaii fans will never change. JMHO

The entire UH sports program has garnered positive national and international attention this year. From the incredible volleyball players to the almost unstoppable Football team. I am inspired by the talent levels, sportsmanship and comaraderie that have been displayed by this small school. You rarely hear of incidents of negativity. More often the island spirit is running rampant. The players, big and small, seem to always put their best foot forward. I understand that in the big picture, sports are not the most important issue of the time, but to see the warmth, unity and spirit of the islands displayed publicly for the world to see makes me proud to be an American.

UH Football. It’s the biggest show in town. More than that, it provides an avenue for the people of Hawaii to truly show what we are about. Stroll through the parking lot at Aloha Stadium on a Saturday evening and you will truly see the Aloha spirit that is so commonly advertised by the tourism industry. In addition, when our athletes succeed, as they have in recent years, a sense of pride eminates from the souls of all full-time and part-time Hawaii fans. UH Football. . . my favorite!

Sad to say, I both agree with you & am just as cynical, I think. We have a hard core of terrific fans, but the ones that jump on the bandwagon later usually won’t attend the 1AA match-ups or contests against the lesser WAC foes like Idaho & New Mexico State. I think there’s a hard core of about 28 -32,000 that will back the boys even against lesser competition. I’d love to see 40,000 + fans every game, but I won’t hold my breath. Still, Coach Mack has brought at least some of the alienated fans back & who knows what the crowds will
be if UH goes 3-0. I think Florida will be facing a much more formidable & better-prepared team than the one Georgia faced in the Sugar Bowl.

The majority of Hawaii Fans are truly pathetic. They are truly bandwagon fans with no backbone. When Georgia beat Hawaii in the SugarBowl the number of Hawaii fans that turned on the Warriors was overwhelming. As a warrior fan, I am saddened when I see other schools with die hard supporters stick with their team till the end. There is no reason in the world why we should not sell out Aloha Stadium every single game. Yet, some “fans” prefer sitting and watching the game of K5– what a shame.
Hawaii fans please show your MANA!!

Sorry for getting off-the-subject…Colt may play in the first half against the Bills.

Coach Zorn said…”It’s possible that I may want to give Colt Brennan a two-minute drill. I’ve got to see that and I’ve got to give him that experience. So we may mix and match as we go along.”

Coach Mack’s Slippah Attack
The Rubber Slipper aka “Rubbah Slippah” has a cultural significance in Hawaii. Anyone who grew up in the islands would know that it is a symbol of authority…”Scott, you bettah clean up your room befo you get da rubbah slippah!” People who wear slippahs are cool and laid back, ready to take on the world and all of its challenges. They do not show fear and can walk the walk…with out the talk. People of the Slippah are proud and will defend the Honor of Hawaii, “NO MATTA WHAT!”
In Hawaii, you take off your slippahs before entering a person’s house. This symbolizes leaving your ego at the door and acceptance of becoming an extended family member of that household. To see Coach Mack wearing slippahs to the Green and White game and in practice is his acceptance of being a part of our (Hawaii) extended family.
Almost every dominating defense in the History of college football had a nick name representing their culture, attitude, and how they played the game. The Junkyard Dogs of Georgia, The Wild Bunch of USC, The Red Elephants of Alabama, Desert Swarm of Arizona and now the Slippah Attack of Hawaii. Good Luck to the 2008-2009 Warriors!

Knock the cost per ticket down this year!!!! UH fans are great, but the cost of living is tough, give us a break on the price and we will fill the stands!!! With a smash mouth offense and hard hitting defense the boys need support from the 12th man in the stands. Go Aaron, Vaughn and Kealoha!!!! Crusaders, Warriors and Monarchs represent!

UH Warriors is our team. The Warriors represent us on the national scene. It is in our interest tha they do well.
Support them when you can. Show up at practices when you can. show up at the game when you can. You’ll better appreciate why WE have a personal stake in Warrior Football.

They say that Football drives the program, but for some schools football drives the community and entire State.
What we saw in the Road to the BCS in 2007 is just the start “Taking it to the Next Level”.
Bandwagon fans needs to learn not just to jump on, but to stay on. The ride will not always be smooth, but so is life.
Regardless of who’s gone, who’s gonna be the replacements, who’s the opponent, what’s the weather gonna be, where am I gonna park, etc, get down to Halawa and pack the stadium.
Extreme Fans will go to Extreme Measures to support their team.
GO Warriors…
