Amber Kaufman qualified for the U.S. Olympic trials in the high jump with her gold-medal performance at the WAC championships
According to the UH WAC championship release, her jump of 6-0.5 (1.84m) was the second-best in the country this season. She’ll first go to regionals, then NCAA championships, then the Olympic trials
Amber’s mom said Amber is working on her passport. All athletes going to the trials are required to have one. Her jump is a provisional “B” height, which puts her 13th or 14th nationally, including pros and other Oly hopefuls.
Pretty cool for what her mom calls an “abysmal” technique.

Her technique may be abysmal, but the result is superb. Sounds like she will only get better and better.
CONGRATUALTIONS AND GOOD LUCK AMBER…BRING HOME THE GOLD!!!!!
Cool. We may have more than just Byran Clay in track & field events at the Olympics with Hawai’i connections!
Cindy,
Who is Amber’s coach? There should be some excellent coaches available in Hawaii.
Didn’t Amber come to Hawaii because no one else that recruited her in other Div 1 volleyball, would let her do track and field too. My favorite dual sporter is Natalie Williams of UCLA VB/BB, which Wahine VB fans remember with UCLA coming ever year. Good luck, Amber.
I believe that was part of the deciding factor
Natalie was recruited hard by UH as well.
