Actually, UH wasnt a long shot, the Maiava's had some nice conversations with Ikaika Malloe who had recruited his brother out of high school. My feeling is that UCLA jumped on him the same day they received the release from CU via fax and UH waited 10 days (I am only assuming it took that long to get from the compliance office to Ikaika because the second Ikaika found out about it he contacted Kai and his family. By that time UCLA was well on their way. A lesson learned but thats ok!

That was wishful thinking on our part. When UH did't recruit him, I think it left a bitter taste in his mouth. Both brothers are now in LA, USC and UCLA. Makes for good sibling rivalry.
