Mr. Chow,

When UH beats Cincinnati or gives them the game that you aren't expecting us to, you'll be surprised. If you're willing to give 30 points, I'm sure all us UH fans would gladly take them. Cincinnati has nothing to play for, they are here to relax and have fun. They could lose by 50pts and they'll still go to their BCS bowl game. UH has a chance to beat a legitimate team and we've turned the corner with our offense, much like we did toward the end of the 2005 season. Plus, the rain the last 2 weeks has kept many fans away, tomorrow, it'll be a great night, packed with fans ready to scream their heads off. If not that, then there will be more than enough people to throw beer on the cincy players this 2nd time around!

One:

Last of all, Nicely (18th best quarterback in the nation) and a few other players of his caliber might be coming to Hawaii in 2009, if Coach McMackin has saved enough scholarships for these guys.

Two:

Norm Chow is my second-cousin by blood, we are family.

Three:

Funi Says: Arizona st. is the perfect team for us to play. Carpenter is awful this year and while their defense is ok, they won’t tear us up offensively like arizona would. It would be a close game, but UH could beat arizona st. at home and that to me is more important, especially for coach mack in his first year. It’s been an up and down year, but in the end, I know now that many of us will still be backin’ mcmackin!

Four:

MTBackfield Says: If UH were to play UCLA at Aloha stadium, I believe UH would win.

My Reply: Not a chance. UCLA is good, while losing many games that it should have won this year!

Five:

The Sun Devils are good by mainland and WAC standards and I like Dennis Erickson's football background.

Six:

Bigislandkurt Says: UCLA is not a far superior team over ASU. They are on par at the very least. Need proof? Watch USC destroy the bruins this weekend.

My Reply: Based on the coaching staff and players, UCLA is far superior to ASU.

Seven:

According to Las Vegas odds Cincinnati is favored over Hawaii by 8.5 points. I thought that the spread would be much greater like 30 or 40 points! At least 40, even at home here in Hawaii!

Vegas odds 12-02-08:

USC v. UCLA -27
Florida v. Alabama -8.5
Cincinnati v. Hawaii -6.5
Arizona v. Arizona State -7.5

My comments: USC is expected to win and by a large margin. UCLA is new and in a building year. UCLA has acquired a new and first rate coaching staff, second to none in the nation. Players at UCLA is superior by WAC standards.

Florida has always been tough, especially in the last three years. And in 2006 Florida was the BCS National Champion. Florida over Alabama by 8.5 as expected.

To me this comes as a shocker, Cincinnati over Hawaii by only 6.5 points!

And last of all, Arizona over Arizona State by 7.5. Arizona is a tad bit better than Arizona State.

Since Mr. Chow is so connected in the NCAA, maybe he should work on getting rid of the BCS system and get Boise a shot at the national title game through a playoff system. For someone so connected and influential in the UH program, why did your cousin not want anything to do with the UH coaching job? Not that he would have definitely been hired anyway, but since we are speaking so hypothetically.

UH will play whoever steps on the field and be competitive. We always are in the Hawaii Bowl. Have a little more faith in the team you claim to have such a hand in and pick them over a 4-7 PAC 10 team. Come on!

And who is this 18th best QB in the nation that you keep talking about? And why wouldn't you convince him to go to UCLA, since they are a better team, program, and whatever else you say they are?

Your intentions for posting what you did may be better than they are coming across. If you have good intentions for writing what you did, I apologize for my harsh comments. But if you are as off as you sound, you had it coming.

Have a nice day.

I don't see ASU in Hawaii if they win, but rather Arizona. This is if USC wins as expected against UCLA. The top 4 will be USC, Oregon, Cal, and OSU. #5 choice is the Emerald Bowl. This is how ASU and Arizona will compare if ASU wins:

1) ASU 6-6, 5-4 Pac-10, Arizona 6-6, 4-5 Pac-10
2) ASU beats Arizona head-to-head
3) ASU on a 4-game winning streak, Arizona on a 3-game losing streak
4) ASU with 2X the enrollment of Arizona, Phoenix metro much bigger than Tucson metro area

If you were the Emerald Bowl and had 1st choice if the Devils prevail, why choose Arizona? Arizona will be left over for the Hawaii Bowl to take.

Chow,

Only time will tell if your team's staff is as good as you say but they ain't in a bowl this year so you're smoking something if you continue your thinking above. We played plenty of great teams this year and got a big one to play this week....much...much bigger than your team. Expect a good team for Hawaii Bowl no matter who it is that will make us better for next year.

Agree that JJ did so very much for UH and Hawaii. We were in the dumps before he came to lead us out of the bottom to a top 25 and BCS team. Coach Mac is doing very well too. He and his staff and players are the kind of people that will sustain our program at a high level for years to come.

Lots of love in Hawaii and on the mainland for the Warriors. All kinds of people working behind the scenes to help make them a success. That's just the way most people are who love Hawaii and the Warriors all over the world. Aloha is what makes our State of Hawaii and its Warrior nation people special. Thats why players...good and great ones want to and will come to play as Warriors. Btw don't believe everything the star ratings imply...its made up of a lot of smoke and mirrors too.

Yeah, I don't understand Mr. Chow's desire to bring a losing program into a bowl game, then say how they are going to spank our boys in our house. I get the impression that Mr. Chow doesn't believe in our program, which has done quite amazing despite the rebuilding and the mistakes that have been made.

Its time to pull out that level of support from last year....BELIEVE!!
