Who is this brazilianrecruit being mentioned on volleytalk?

    • warriorfan December 26, 2010 at 10:14 pm

“ingoodstanding” mentioned that, I wouldn’t believe anything that person says…..

      • Cindy Luis December 27, 2010 at 10:07 am

That rumor has been out there for a month or so. I have heard nothing concrete.

        • WOW ! December 27, 2010 at 10:29 am

Not saying that we will never have another foreign player but this Brazilian recruit thing has been around VT for years. At one point this mystery Brazilian became a Chinese’s 7 footer for awhile.

What I do know ,because Dave mentioned it, is that we have an associate basketball coach who is a native of Brazil and coached in the Brazilian National basketball program what kind of contacts he has in the volleyball world I don’t know.

        • warriorfan December 27, 2010 at 4:37 pm

You mean there is a chance this is real?? A brazilian middle that will become the best player on the team instantly?? I am crossing my fingers… and toes!!

          • Cindy Luis December 27, 2010 at 5:25 pm

Don’t know if it’s real. been floated out for a while. we shall see.

          • warriorfan December 27, 2010 at 9:00 pm

            I would love this,
            please be true!!!!

2011 starting lineup ( brazilian style)
            OH Kanani
            OH2 Jane
            MB Brittany
            MB2 Brazilian
            S Mita
            OPP Emily/Chanteal

  • Ron December 27, 2010 at 5:36 am

I meant to say “insights”, sorry but incite might fit some of the blogs which is just fine with me.

    • Cindy Luis December 27, 2010 at 5:41 pm

I’m sure i’ve done some inciting along the way. Today good example. We were out paddling in Kailua, have been in the vicinity of the Obama compound the past few days, close enough to see the yellow buoys that’s supposed to designate the no paddle zone. EXCEPT today the Coast Guard came roaring over with siren and light to ‘chat’ and told us we couldn’t be there. Made for an exciting morning.

  • roygbivs[TerenceTwkWong] December 27, 2010 at 8:48 am

Happy New Year Cindy and to the volleyball Ohana!!

  • Cindy Luis December 27, 2010 at 9:13 pm

I don’t know about your lineup. WF. Sounded like they were done for 2011. Shoji had said that even if a scholarship opened up (and it has with Cascioppo retiring) they weren’t going to go out and get another recruit. It could go to Satele, it could go to Stauber.
but i’m sure they wouldn’t turn away a good transfer.

    • warriorfan December 27, 2010 at 9:34 pm

Darn I was hoping this Brazilian recruit was for this upcoming season :)

  • Cindy Luis December 27, 2010 at 9:43 pm

WF, as mentioned earlier, this thing about a Brazilian has been discussed for a while. just mentioning what Shoji told me about the 2011 recruiting. but you nevah like know.

    • WOW ! December 28, 2010 at 7:44 am

“Brazilian has been discussed for a while”

May I ask ,discussed by who? Anyone with any credibility ?

      • Cindy Luis December 28, 2010 at 9:01 am

discussed here only because of the VT thread. Not that we really discussed more than that.
VT has some credible people on there …

  • Yabba-Dabba-Doo December 28, 2010 at 4:44 am

What is with this obsession with a Brazilian player ? There are Brazilian players all over the NCAA especially on the east coast and none of them are all world or even All Americans, this is so ridicules. Foreign players at the college level are no better than the talent available in the US.
Look at the Florida State roster, loaded with foreigners but are they any better for it? Have they been to a Final Four with all of their foreign players ?

  • Jeff December 28, 2010 at 8:51 am

Sure FSU is better for it. They’ve never been to a final four, but just compare it to where the program was with the prior coach who didn’t bring in foreign players. I don’t think the prior coach ever made the NCAA tournament.

  • Cindy Luis December 28, 2010 at 9:03 am

One of the prior coaches being Dr. Cecile Renaud of the AVCA

  • WOW ! December 28, 2010 at 9:28 am

That whole Brazilian player thing has been an annual event on VT for years, can’t believe there are people who actually believe the stuff they read there.

  • po'okela December 28, 2010 at 10:03 pm

    screw the braziliand…
i just wanna know what’s going on for 2012
everyone is snagging all the top recruits.

Is it true the aforementioned Brazilian stands 6’10″ and has a 13 foot vertical?

Ever thought about what separates a great coach and mentor from the rest? And why great coaches get results while other get frustrated? “The biggest MISTAKE most people make about a coach is: They mistake a COACH for a BABY SITTER A BABY SITTER tells kids in a nice way that they need to do what they are told to do in a soft and caring voice as to not upset the child. A great baby sitter will smile when the child is throwing a tantrum. A COACH on the other hand is hired to get the best out of a person. They are not there to smile and tell a person what they want to hear. They are hired to get a result because they care about outcomes and getting the most out of a person. A great coach does not play stupid games with irresponsible people who think they want to get the best from themselves yet fail to show it in their actions. This is why great coaches Drop average players from their team all the time. When ADULTS hire a coach, it is not the coaches responsibility to do the work, run the laps or sweat. That’s what the player does. Coaches see how the player can best suit the game and find their unique talents and gifts, then put them in a position to win. If the player fails to turn up, then a good coach will drop the lazy, irresponsible player in turn for the player with a good attitude who is prepared to put in the work to succeed. Next time you are thinking about hiring a coach, just remember the best coaches drop lazy, irresponsible players all the time as they value their years of hard work, learning the art of what they coach and pride themselves on success. If you want to be a great player in the game of life or business; action, implementation and great communication is the key. “Make shit happen”. Great coaches love great clients or great players on their team.
